California voters are stupid.
Trust me, I live there.

Good question, it’s something I’ve wondered too, all you have to do is look at cities like Detroit, Chicago, Philadelphia etc. you see such high rates of crime and poverty yet Democrats get elected over and over.

It is not CA that elects these people it is SF County, and LA County. These voters control the final out come. Unfortunately they are liberals and liberals are idiots.

Several factors—and I live in California. People here are notoriously apathetic about politics until just prior to an election. They are particularly well-read on the issues or well informed. There are also a lot of hard-core partisan Democrats here who have convinced themselves that California’s mess is Bush’s fault or that Schwarzenegger (as opposed to the liberal policies he adopted) is to blame for the state’s mess. Finally, environmentalism is RAMPANT here. It’s a state religion. Democrats love to make Republican candidates look anti-environment. It’s in every commercial they run. These enviro. fanatics don’t care and or don’t know what their radical policies are doing to hurt California, or if they’re somewhat cognizant of it they think it’s a small price to pay.

Finally, I think the illegal immigrant maid thing hurt Whitman. Why, I have no idea since she clearly did nothing wrong. But this is a state of non-thinkers my friend and the media here is exceptionally liberal, so people only really got half the story on this—the bad half—and that’s what stuck.

Hope that helps.

Suburban white women have been well and truly brainwashed to believe any Republican victory will be harmful to their children (closed schools, underfunded highways, polluted air and water, etc.)

Are NOT particularly well-read on the issues or well informed--I meant to say.

Judging from some of my neighbors, I would say the problem is that too many Kalifornians have no understanding of fundamental economics. They haven't learned that you can't get milk and steaks from the same cow.

Most people have just had it too good for too long here. They have no idea that the goose that laid the golden eggs has flown the coop. I see riots in our future.

This is the greatest of moral mysteries. How can a state elect the very party that is destroying the state. Then I see the crack addicts living in the streets of San Francisco, who are coddled and taken care of so they can continue to use these drugs by the local government. Then I read how San Francisco hides illegals who are wanted by the law for crimes and they call their city a city of refuge for criminals who are wanted in other cities and counties in the state. Then I read how the city ignores federal laws to suit themselves, use the parking laws to pay for the outrageous pension fund, drop 200 million a year on the homeless and they still have them, and the city itself accuses the rest of the country of being irresponsible. Yeah, I am a 4th generation Californian and I am appalled at how the San Francisco area has dictated to the state how the rest of us must live. And it has been a miserable failure.

Third generation native of Sab Diego and it’s sick-ken-ning.

Once should have been once too much for Governor Moonbean and for the sake of everything holy and righteous, Boxer has been a disgrace from day one and I cannot believe that she will win her fourth (4 th) term.

I just can not.

The state is owned by the Democratic party. Has been for a long time now. The districts are gerrymandered too.

When the state is financially completely dead, and the very last business leaves, they will still be blaming the greedy rich for all the problems of this state.

Simple, the majority of residents have connections to government employment unions or are receiving benefits from the state.

These are people voting for Democrats because that is who gives them other people's money.

Yes, the state is beyond broke and these bums will vote the state into the ground to get over payment through unions or welfare benefits for as long as they can.

One day, just a big crash and the people making money will go elsewhere.

Serious answer to a serious question:

Because the California GOP is infested with and run by RINO Elites like Meg Whitman and Arnold and Pete Wilson who are nothing less than Liberals in Sheep's clothing on just about every issue.

Furthermore, many, if not all, like Meg and Arnold will tell you whatever they think you want to hear, much like Myth Romney.

They are the scourge of the GOP and should be drummed out of the GOP.

The media in both print and on the airwaves are 24 hour propaganda spewing fountains..

The talking heads are as empty-headed as they come, the analysis biased beyond compare,, the writers either drunk or stoned or both..

Ok maybe 24 hours is a bit much, Meg has at least an hour of her own ads on every day or so it seems for a lot of good that it did. The station owners and pollsters and campaign advisers are the only ones making money.

Nope, California has sold its soul for flickering images and hollow promises.

O, did I forget the unions? oh well

Film at 11 :-)

Help!

In the last couple of days, there was a comprehensive set of recommendations on the California ballot measures and candidates. I couldn't read it at the time and I can't find it.

Any other Californians have a link?

Not all of California is rabidly liberal, but the most densly populated areas like the bay area where I live is. Environmentalism is a big factor. Our school system has some of the worst results in the nation, and voter’s (mis)understanding of issues is, I believe, a product of that education. Public Employees Unions run this government and our schools.

Because they have a D after their names. There aren’t enough of us conservatives to counter the vote by rote commies.

As far as i can tell from my moonbat aquaitances is that even though things are bad now it would be 10 times worse if an evil republican was in charge.
The question also Reminds me of the reason why american jews vote dem.
Truly Bizarre.

Tons of limousine liberals in CA. One example is some women at work who was loaded. I always heard her talk about her horses and she had a huge diamond ring but she would also rattle on and on about how pro-choice she is. If Jerry Brown said he would double the income tax she would not care, a few more thousand bucks in taxes would not crimp her style, because he is pro-abortion.
