Yes, Juan Williams got canned by NPR. Yes it was outrageous and unjust.
My take is going to be short and sweet.
It is poetic justice to see..." (continued)

I pretty much agree with this.....lets see if this is Juan’s “teachable moment.”
Are you as skeptical as I am?
Interesting take on recent events.
“I’m certain the left viewed him as a traitor to the cause anyway because he even appeared on Fox, let alone being a regular contributor.”
Possible Jealousy in that regard but there are plenty of liberal pundits on Fox and you don’t see them treated that way.
The left get off appeasing the people who want to kill them; therefore, they were appalled by his comments on Islam. Islam is sacred to them because it is pure, unabated evil.
It tickles me to see how many on this forum are outraged but over the years have posted long and loud about what an “idiot” Juan was for repeatedly defending the liberal dogma on Fox All Star Panel, Chris Wallace’s show, others.
However, he is way easier to take than Bob Beckel or Alan Colmes and this is something that should be used to point out the hypocrisy of the left...can you imagine if Fox had fired Williams for something he said?
CNN can fire Rich Sanchez, NPR can fire black Juan Williams...where is the NAACP?
He said it, he owns it, he got fired, and he's moved on to a better contract.
Sounds like a real man to me.
He got bumped up a few notches in my estimation.

Remember the old saying that a conservative is a do-gooder who got mugged? (something like that)>
I’ve been watching the Left bitchslap Williams in the last year and I think he finally found out that his professional friends are not at NPR, MSNBC, etc.
Let’s hope he has his eyes opened enough to see the truth.
Remember Juan: “Never let a crisis go to waste”. Rahm, the ballerina, Emanuel
I agree with your take.
I think that Americans should be outraged by what happened.
But....
Live by the sword, die by the sword.
At least he didn’t try to weasel word his way out of it and ‘clarify’ what he said.
“He said it, he owns it, he got fired, and he’s moved on to a better contract.

Respectfully, that is too trite for me to digest. He doesn’t -deserve- to be rewarded with a BETTER contract bsimply because he was victimized by the EXACT ideology he has devoted his career to spreading.
That ideology has virtually destroyed this country. No, I’m REFUSE to embrace this intellectual banality the way Fox is trying to play it. That’s about RATINGS for Fox and is not the arguement, the approach nor the train of reasoning that serves this country.
If he is going to RENOUNCE the DAMAGE he has inflicted throughout his career - GREAT. Otherwise, to elevate him is an injustice because most of - US- don’t get to reap REWARDS for damaging the country.
But there's a constitutional issue here. NPR takes FedGuv money which means that NPR has to abide the First Amendment just like the FedGuv does. Firing Juan for political speech or association outside of the NPR workplace is going to be a constitutional problem for NPR/SOROS.
“MUG HIM AGAIN!” a NY’er yells from the crowd.
OR—live by the words; die by the words!
Juan was very fair and balanced. Unusual for NPR.

I personally have never like Juan’s whiny, righteous, racists ramblings . . . everything coming from him from a “black” perspective rather than an American perspective. His being swept up by FOX doesn’t impress me at all. He’s what you would expect from a racist, minority hire.
I find it funny that the new Minority, Muslims, has taken precedent over the old minority, blacks.
Guess now we know.
Just maybe he doesn't realize it...........
Directly? Or via the member stations via CPB?
I personally think the Feds need out of the public broadcasting area completely, including licensing. But we don't do any good by making mis-statements of fact.

And it appalls me to see how many on this forum don't have the slightest concept of the principles of free speech. Honest and respectful debate is essential to a healthy democratic society. Suppression of unpopular speech and ideas is totalitarian. It's perfectly possible to disagree with someone's ideas without depriving them of the right to express them. Kudos to Roger Ailes and a pox on NPR!
