Liberal group zeros in on next target: NPR correspondent and Fox News contributor Mara Liasson

Now that Fox News contributor Juan Williams has been dropped from National Public Radio, the liberal website Media Matters for America is now targeting Mara Liasson, the last remaining NPR correspondent who works with Fox News.

“NPR’s Mara Liasson and her long-running association with Fox News has often raised questions. This might be the proper time for NPR to finally address that thorny issue,” wrote Media Matters columnist Eric Boehlert Thursday in a post entitled “What about Mara Liasson?” “[I]f you look at NPR’s code of ethics, there’s simply no way Liasson should be making appearances on Fox.”

Boehlert cited an official NPR document that says employees may not make media appearances that are “harmful to the reputation of NPR or the NPR participant” or “where the employee’s appearance may appear to endorse the agenda of a group or organization.”

Boehlert said that since Fox News pushes a “political agenda,” Liasson’s association violates the organization’s code of ethics.

In 2009, it was reported that NPR pressured Liasson to cut her ties with Fox News, a network she has contributed to since 1997. Liasson did not immediately return a request for comment.

Media Matters and NPR both announced this week they were receiving million-dollar grants from left-wing billionaire George Soros.

I don't know how much you should care, but the fact that a government supported institution will terminate someones employment over his thoughts worries the heck out of me. CNN firing Rick Sanchez was a business decision. NPR firing Juan Williams IS censure ship.

Absolutely correct! I live in eastern Tennessee - TVA (a federal agency for those not familiar) is the big employer in the area. While there are certainly leftists within that organization, it has more than its share of conservatives within the workforce as well. I know of at least a couple that are involved in the Tea Party movement. The problem, for them, is that they are already scared to become "too public" in their opinions, lest their comments have an effect on their employment.

This episode reminds me of back in the 1980's when I worked in a union job in Ohio - in the same department as the Vice President of the Union. He and I exchanged barbs on more than one occasion. One time, he threatened to "pull my card" (IOW, kick me out of the union) because I didn't want to go along with the "union" way of things. This is the same kind of thing. If you don't share the opinions with the leftards in charge, you will be punished.

Is NPR purging its folks who appear on Fox News as an unspoken requirement for getting a million $$ from Soros?

Sure looks like it.

Ironically, these are the same people who insist that there are no liberals on Fox.

Williams has been on as many shows this morning as possible.
He is really hurtin' and in shock.

Why am I enjoying this?

Mara acquired a pretty good revamped face quite a while ago. She doesn't look like the Runaway Bride now as much she used to.

Oh, yeah, BIG TIME! Check out some of his Salon rants:

I just caught Prairie Home Companion last night (and again today, as it turned out).

Paraphrase from his mono: "....he's a republican. He's for personal responsibility; he's not for the free lunch; doesn't believe in big government with all its regulations...doesn't want just throw away the tried-and-true, you don't just do that; she's a democrat...she's for the free lunch...

Can't detect a bit of sarcasm in his bit. He goes on... "...he's not an angry republican; he believe republicans are doers, not whiners. Some of the guys he hunts with are angry republicans...he doesn't like to hunt anymore..."

And a cutesy thing about the ghost of Ronald Reagan being around this Halloween.

And his entire show sounds like a sermon from a Lutheran church -- has for years.

In fact that's one of two beefs I have with him: he's a Protestant and he seasons a lot his stuff with dopey sexual innuendoes of the sort that old men do.

I grant you that I only presume the show is current, I don't know if these are reruns or not. And I haven't checked out the salon rants.
