LOS ANGELES, Oct. 19 (UPI) -- Television actor Tom Bosley has died of heart failure at his Palm Springs, Calif., home, his agent confirmed Tuesday. He was 83.
Bosley had been battling lung cancer, his agent Sheryl Abrams told TVGuide.com.
The Chicago native is best known for his work on "Happy Days," "Murder, She Wrote" and "Father Dowling Mysteries," as well as in the Broadway production of "Beauty & the Beast."
"We were a make-believe family for 10 years, and like a real family for over 30. He will be so, so missed," Bosley's former "Happy Days" co-star Henry Winkler told E! News.
"Mr. Tom Bosley will be missed by many. He was a great actor, teacher and man," Scott Baio, who also appeared on the sitcom, said via Twitter.
Rest in peace Tom.

RIP David The Gnome.
cancer eh? Chloroseptic with PHENOL!!!
It's a sad day, but on the bright side, he will never again be confused with David Doyle, the Bosley from Charlie's Angels.
I named my cat “Tom Bosley” back in ‘87.
I liked him in I Love Lucy.
RIP, “Mr. C”
I think Happy Days was my all-time favorite show in the 70s. Walked home for lunch every day from school and watched it. Then took a nap and went back to class.
I always felt Tom Bosley resembled my father. He held a special place in my heart. Godspeed Mr. Bosley.
TV was still pretty good back then.
Great music too.
Rest in Peace. First Beaver’s mom now Ritchie’s dad.
