Why such a concern about how fat Americans are getting?
Because fat folks aren't healthy, and that leads to higher health care costs. The logic follows that if you can decrease the percentage of fatties in America, then you can lower health care costs.
And because of that, we get the Nanny State's War on Obesity and the drive to change the way people eat, even if they have to control the restaurant industry.
Now, there is another health care issue the federal government spends piles of money on, but doesn't feel the need to address the cause. AIDS.
Back in 2008, I wrote:
In America, the federal government spends 21 times more money on AIDS as we do on cancer. It spend 78 times more money on AIDS as we do on heart disease. Anti-stroke funding? AIDS gets 97 times more money.
As reported in the New York Post, “the Ryan White Act mandates taxpayer handouts to HIV/AIDS victims of about $1.2 billion a year. We have no remotely similar program for victims of any other disease.”
All this money for a disease that the World Health Organization’s top HIV expert says is “largely confined to gay men, drug addicts and prostitutes and their clients,” i.e. largely preventable.
The president had to calm down a group of AIDS activists who were heckling him about funding. The president responded:
"Apparently you're interested in funding AIDS. . . . We have increased AIDS funding." Then he proceeded with his remarks.
If the nanny state liberals feel so compelled to control my access to french fries, then why aren't they compelled to control what gay men, drug addicts and prostitutes put in their bodies?

I have said for many years that the gay lobby is the primary killer of homosexual men.
The most preventable epidemic in history and we are not allowed to stop it for fear of offending the victims.
What makes me the maddest about this is that gays are demanding the ‘right’ to donate blood. I guess they want spread AIDS to everyone, rather than confine it to the ‘gay community’.
AIDS is only one health problem for gay men. Not to be too graphic, but no one acknowledges the fact that semen is corrosive. It has to be to break through the outside of an egg. The vaginal tract is the only part of the body that was made to withstand it. The act itself leads to a great deal of expensive health problems, even in a absence of AIDS.

Not just in AIDS, either. There are numerous other STDs, or blood borne infections such as hepatitis, that are also incredibly risky to spread through homosexual activities.
I do remember the works of John R. Diggs. Don’t know if they are still out there, but there was a long list of warnings about the health risks in the papers which he wrote.

Umm, because alot of gays are Nanny State Liberals, and because alot of Nanny State Liberals are gays?
