Absurd as Michelle Obama rated ahead of Hillary Clinton, Sarah Palin as most powerful woman

Forbes Magazine has rated Michelle Obama ahead of Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin as the most powerful woman in the world.

Big mistake.

Michelle is named as No.1. Hillary is rated as No. 5, Sarah Palin at No.16

Michelle Obama is an extraordinary woman but would have little impact were she not the wife of the president of the United States.

There is also the reality that while the First Lady can inspire and encourage she cannot actually impact policy in any direct manner

Hillary Clinton,of course, knows that very well and while she was initially in her husband's shadows she has since emerged as a leader in her own right first as a U.S. senator then a presidential candidate and then as Secretary of State.

She is by far the most accomplished woman of her generation. To rate her behind not only Michelle Obama, but Oprah Winfrey too is ludicrous

It is hard to argue, as Forbes do, that a First Lady with no executive power is as powerful as the U.S. Secretary of State who has intervened in some of the world's major trouble spots and has played an increasingly key role in the foreign policy agenda of Barack Obama.

It is also hard to argue that Michelle is more powerful than Sarah Palin who at one point was potentially within a heartbeat of the presidency.

Prior to that she was a popular governor of Alaska, one of the few women to run a statehouse.

Since her presidential run she has become a political phenomenon influencing millions of Americans through her speeches, tweets and television interviews.

Yet she is rated not only behind Michelle Obama but also Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Ellen De Generes

But before some of you say it some liberal agenda, this is Forbes magazine, bastion of conservative politics.

So their choices are bound to be controversial across the board. No question in my mind when it comes to power, Hillary Clinton should be rated first with Palin second.

Of course it’s ridiculous. But the people who rank Michelle Ubama as the “most powerful woman” probably feel good about themselves. (shrug) It’s simply a case of “political correctness meets affirmative action meets liberal morons”.

I mean, Lady Gaga is third. Credibility is gone out the window.

Pretty sad that Lady Gaga, Beyonce and De generes have so much sway. Says all one needs to know about the degradation of American culture

Has more to do with degradation of American MEDIA culture and far less to do with American culture as it relates to real Americans.

This was the “apology story” that Forbes had to run for the Dinesh Dsouza cover article on Forbes previously that burned Obama...and made the WH call the Forbes staff after the publication.

Next few articles will be another cycle. Chewbacca Me-chelle got her top spot but eventually come Nov 2, she’ll be less than zero to show for it.

Michelle Obama is an extraordinary woman but would have little impact were she not the wife of the president of the United States.

That's like saying 'Queen Elizabeth II is an extraordinary woman but would have little impact if she were not the Queen of England.'

Michelle My Belle is the first lady. She is powerful. You can argue about who belongs where on the list, but if you're going to have a list like that, she belongs on it somewhere.

Here's America's first affirmative action PC president and first lady.

I can't wait to hear him referred to as 'former President Obama.'

Most powerful woman...

Guessing this means she can bench press the most? She certainly could kick the ass of the zero she is married to.

What a load of crock.

I don’t see her having the ability to marshal any more than a fickle throng of adoring sycophants who desperately want MO to be something she is not.

They are merely projecting and Idealized unreality.

Hillary and Sarah are indeed forces to be reckoned with and could easily muster armies of pragmatically attached citizenry and foot soldiers.

Michelle is a cheap two bit knockoff of Marie Antoinette and the factory stamping out her model is from the frontier lands of China.

How has Hillary accomplished anything “in her own right”? The only reason she became a U.S. senator, a presidential candidate and Secretary of State was because she was the wife of a president.

It is also hard to argue that Michelle is more powerful than Sarah Palin who at one point was potentially within a heartbeat of the presidency.

The list is for 2010, not 2008.

Let's say the list was for 1986. You have Geraldine Ferraro and Nancy Reagan somewhere on the list.

Now, 2 years earlier, Geraldine Ferraro was "potentially within a heartbeat of the presidency", while, at present, Nancy Reagan is merely the unelected wife of the president.

Shouldn't Nancy Reagan still have been ranked ahead of Geraldine Ferraro?

As for Hillary Clinton, she is Secretary of State. A few years ago, Condoleeza Rice was Secretary of State. Did that automatically make her the most powerful woman on the planet?

More than the ranking, one has to question Forbes’ description of Palin: “Political Maverick and Commentator.”

Not “Alaskan Governor and prior candidate for Vice President of the United States.”

Of course, any list that places Arianna Huffington far above Queen Elizabeth II has to be pretty worthless.

Hillary and Sarah are indeed forces to be reckoned with and could easily muster armies of pragmatically attached citizenry and foot soldiers.

Sarah could get 500,000 people with torches and pitchforks on the National Mall in 3 days if she wanted to. Hillary couldn't muster her way out of a wet paper bag.

The fact that Lady GaGa and Beyonce are on the list suggests that there is a pop culture element to the rankings. Nobody in the entertainment media has the guts or inclination to go after Michelle. To hear them say it, she is some sort of fashion icon / superwoman icon that all mothers can aspire to become.

Anyway, she has the power to alter the contents of a Happy Meal. I'd say that's real power to some extent.
