The death of Linda Norgrove was a tragedy that happened when something goes wrong in military rescue operation. Ms. Norgrove, a Scottish aid worker, was kidnapped by members of the Taliban in eastern Afghanistan on September 26 with three Afghan co-workers. The Afghanis were later released.
Intelligence sources learned the Taliban took Ms. Norgrove to a stronghold in the mountains of northern Kunar region. Using a network of eavesdropping and informants the Taliban kidnappers were being tracked and all actions were being monitored by overhead drones. In the intelligence community the information on the location of Ms. Norgrove was solid. According to the Washington Post, the British military were provided intelligence on her whereabouts.
Other reports stated the reason for Norgrove’s kidnapping was that she was a bargaining chip to be exchanged for Pakistani Aafia Siddiqui aka “Lady al-Qaeda” who is presently in a US prison.

The decision to send in the Navy SEALs to rescue Ms. Norgrove was motivated by informants reveling that either she was going to be moved to the North Waziristan territory in Pakistan or that she was to be publicly executed.

This is a chance she took going among the Animals,the brave special forces who put their lives on the line for a dogooder who should have found something at home to work on!
The Pakistanis are desperate to get their biological weapons maker back. But no illusions. She is as dangerous as Khan, the nuclear weapons proliferator, who the Pakistanis revere and protect.
Put on the spot, about the only way to resolve this problem is for her to die, at least officially. Otherwise the Pakistanis will do anything for her return, which means a perpetual threat against any US citizen overseas.
That this is done by proxy, the Taliban, changes nothing. This is the work of the Pakistani government and the ISI.
It also means that any other Pakistani national who is studying what she had been studying has to be seen as a security risk. Because it indicates that the Pakistani government wants to proliferate biological weapons.
