“Inspire 2 Lives Up to Its Name”

SNIPPET: “The second issue of Inspire, the magazine issued by the media outlet of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) known as “Al-Malahim Media Foundation” is living up to its name, at least on paper, in trying to INSPIRE English-language al-Qaeda supporters to cross that proverbial threshold from thought to action.
Here’s what I think are the most important points to take away from the magazine off my first skim through. I will be blogging more in-depth analysis in days to come. I’ll also be monitoring the response from the jihobbyist fan base aggressively.
1. This magazine is focused on giving average guys who generally support al-Qaeda but feel like one man can’t make a difference the kick in the butt that they need to move from thought to action. It is an effort to provide as many role-models to emulate and potential paths for action to adopt as possible.
2. Inspire is the magazine equivalent of Anwar al-Awlaki: it is a populist publication, it’s for the jihadi everyman. Whereas previous publications used to focus on making complex arguments and exploring sophisticated issues in-depth, this series is focused on mobilizing: on actualizing potential. They believe that there are a lot of loaded guns out there in the form of angry kids in the West. They just need someone to pull the trigger: Al-Qaeda believes they can be this trigger.”

SNIPPET: “The group behind the failed Christmas Day bombing has released the second installment of its new English-language magazine, Inspire, featuring a North Carolina man who says he is “proud to be a traitor to America.”
“I am a traitor to America because my religion requires me to be one,” writes 24-year-old Samir Khan, a U.S. citizen now believed to be in Yemen. “We pledge to wage jihad for the rest of our lives until either we implant Islam all over the world or meet our Lord as bearers of Islam.””

Samir also quoted WikiLeaks’ Julian Assange calling on the U.S. to change its policies if it wants to prevent more attacks inside its border.

Proud to be an American Traitor
If you were a muslim the n you were not an American and can not be a traitor.
islam is the exact opposite of being American. American id freedom and liberty, islam is oppression and terror. So if you were the one you could not be the other..

For a start, the second issue confirms that the magazine is produced out of Yemen by Samir Khan, the online propagandist who was based in the United States until October 2009. As with the first issue, the magazine contains a mix of original material and reprints of older texts by Bin Ladin, Abu Dujana al-Khurasani, Abu Mus’ab al-Suri and others. Most of the new stuff is ostensibly written by Samir Khan himself, but there are a couple of new pieces by al-Awlaki as well. There are also numerous quotes from Western media, including several about the first issue of Inspire. “

Do not travel abroad for jihad – act on US soil instead.

SNIPPET: “The newly released issue of Inspire, al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula’s (AQAP) quarterly online magazine, features two former Guantanamo detainees. The first is Othman Ahmed al Ghamdi, who is the military commander of AQAP. Al Ghamdi also appeared in an AQAP tape released in May. [See LWJ report, Former Gitmo detainee featured as commander in al Qaeda tape.]
The second former Gitmo detainee featured is Said al Shihri, who is listed as the “vice emir,” or roughly number two leader, of AQAP. Al Shihri has appeared in several communiqués since early 2009, when the formation of AQAP was first publicly announced. Al Shihri himself was a participant in AQAP’s founding. The chief purpose of Inspire, which is produced entirely in English, is to spread AQAP’s propaganda in the West and woo new recruits. In that vein, Inspire focuses on what US counterterrorism officials call “the narrative.” The magazine portrays the West, and in particular America, as being at war with Islam as part of a Zionist-Crusader conspiracy. This is a typical al Qaeda recruiting message.
Both al Ghamdi and al Shihri rely on “the narrative” in their messages to readers. Their words are only partially true, and mostly mythology.”
