ObamaCare waivers: who is above the law?

The Obama administration is deciding now who is above the law in America. Not surprisingly Mama and Papa are not among those getting excused from obeying the new health care law, but CIGNA is.

Health and Human Services Department has a budget bigger than the Department of Defense. It is really stunning to see how much money and regulating power is concentrated in HHS. The department’s Secretary Kathleen Sebelius has the authority now to pick who will follow the law and who will not.

The Congress is no longer in charge. The executive branch suddenly can decide who will follow the rules and who doesn’t have to. This is creepy.

If McDonalds deserves a waiver from ObamaCare the Congress should amend the law to give waiver to all who have similar problem. If they are not giving all businesses a waiver, they shouldn’t be giving a waiver to one of them.

If it is not working – let’s repeal it.

Let’s not pretend we are closing loop holes for big corporations with one hand while we give waivers to them with the other hand.

The new health reform keeps producing exemptions – each one of them is adding to the already scary cost of the law.

It started when the ObamaCare was just a bill and continues today when the monster is a full blown federal regulation... When the health care bill turned into law the exceptions and waivers were no longer in the hands of the elected representatives.

The winners will be picked by the HHS bureaucrats; the losers will pick the tab

Read the history of the Soviet Union or Nazi Germany. This is the warning sign.

De-fund any agency that practices pernicious regulation or is not neutral in oversight.

Of course, I’m all for zeroing out HHS altogether, but even the most conservative pols don’t have the courage to do it.

Aside from the fact that the HC act is unconstitutional on its face, exempting favored groups from compliance for any period of time is unconstitutional.

Outfits like the UFT are requesting waivers - this should be headline news nationwide.

Obama’s bought-and-paid-for union types want nothing to do with his health panacea.

“Read the history of the Soviet Union or Nazi Germany. This is the warning sign.”

This is more the Italian or German national socialist model than communist. “Stakeholders” buy their way to the table with key support and contributions. The all-knowing government then divides up the spoils amongst the stakeholders with special deals. Moving the division of the spoils so quickly into administrative agencies is a scary development.

Note that the waivers are for one year only. If any of the waivees misbehave (say bad things about obama, fail to contribute to dem candidates, oppose a union anywhere, are not sufficiently sympathetic to ACORN demands), they lose a waiver worth hundreds of millions of dollars in 12 months.
