Some gay guy “outs” him for opposing Don’t ask, Don’t tell, and we are supposed to believe the guy? “He told me in 2004”. Yes, because that’s what republican gay men do while they are married, tell gay liberal bloggers their secret.

Patrick Hughes was Kirk’s GOP opponent in the primary who ran a very bad campaign and was limited in money. The problem was that in 2008, when Obama was running for President, the Dem’s in IL moved the primaries up to Feb 2.

In 2010, Scott Browns winning election was Jan. 19. There was Brown election fatigue & euphoria coupled with poor in-state Tea Party coordination as Hughes battled 3 other conservatives in the race against Kirk.

Conservatives, Tea Partiers, and 912 organizations needed to make the hard decision to coalesce around a conservative candidate to mount any type of challenge to the liberal Kirk. Hughes had most notoriety, publicity and self-funded money. The other Conservative Republican Senate candidates polled less than 1% with no finances and no organizations. As we all know, when there are numerous conservative candidates splitting the conservative vote, the more liberal candidate will win in a state like IL. That is what happened. No one dropped out to endorse the leader Hughes. Tea Partier’s split their endorsements throughout the state.

No national spotlight. No planning. No coordination. Scott Brown fatigue. Limited Money. All hampered Hughes efforts. Hughes ended up with 19% of the vote. Kirk had just short of $5M on hand and was backed by the RNSC, RNC and the support of many of the state party RINO officials. Everyone except conservative critics. Once again showing the establishment DC power brokers pushing a RINO candidate like Kirk to win.

Every warm body in the Senate wearing a “GOP” tag is that much closer to giving all committee chairmanships to the GOP. Reid can’t (and wouldn’t if he could) do that.

Excellent synopsis of what happened in the Illinois primary. I didn’t vote for Kirk or Brady.

That strategy of supporting any piece of ideological garbage so long as there is an R next to the name on the ballot sure has worked well in Gollyfornia! Ahhhhhnold Schwarzenkennedy sure is an achievement politically. Think Grey Davis with an elephant's trunk mask. I can root mildly for Whitman and Fiorina but they are not a source of excitement.

Did Kirk sponsor a bill to name a post office after David Keene or was it their mutual distaste for war and the military that got Markie more than a 50% rating.

Jim DeMint says that the GOP is not ready to run the Senate if it takes the majority this year. He is right. Republican committee chairs now merely guarantees a return to GOP corruption as usual. People may get involved in political effort to translate ideological principles into reality or they can get involved to whore after money, jobs and contracts. Conservatives are the ones who seek principled governance.

One Senator can place any bill on hold. 41 Senators can block debate by filibuster and principle. Nobody, but nobody, suggests that, after the 2010 election, the GOP will have less than 47 seats. We may have 48, 49 or 50 but God forbid we have 51 because then we get blackmailed constantly by every liberal sleazebag in the GOP Caucus: Snowe, Collins, and several more already. We don't need Markie and, in Illinois, conservatives who think things through don't want him.

Finally, if Brady who is clearly winning the governiorship runs far ahead of a losing Mark Kirk, an important message is delivered to the RINO wing of the Illinois Combine: Keep the RINO and DIABLO trash off our ballot because we will beat you every time.

Harrison Williams of New Jersey went directly from the Senate to the federal hoosegow. Here in Illinois, we have convicted and sent to the federal slam Governors Otto Kerner, Dan Walker, Lyin' George Ryan and Rod Blagojevich is pending sentencing and faces a second trial on the other 16 counts. The Chicago justice system (US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois actually) well knows how to jail miscreant public officials. An awful lot of Richie Daley's buds are also enjoying federal hospitality as is Tony Rezco. US Attorney Fitzgerald is doing nicely thank you.

>>It does us no good to have a Socialist Combiner RINO who can hold the entire GOP Senate caucus hostage to his leftist agenda, precisely what Kirk will do.<<

So you don’t think that Harry Reid and Nancy Palosi have any power? Those are the two positions we lose if we don’t have a majority.

Kirk voted FOR cap 'n' tax as a Congressman this year AFTER being nominated for the Senate. He SAYS he is against it now after discovering that the brie and chablis set in his district are not Illinois generally.

Kirk opposed Obamacare having learned his temporary lesson on Cap 'n' Tax. Elect him and he will race to the left of Dickie Durbin.

For whom did you vote, in the primary, for Senate and governor? I voted for Lowery and Andrzejewski.

There is a 50,000 Watt AM radio station in Chicago, WIND 560, that runs a weekly paid show from the " Illinois Republican Renaissance Project" at 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM Central Time every Sunday morning. The regulars on that show who are long veteran Republican conservatives here in Illinois have repeatedly made that claim, particularly Jack Roeser. The show streams live every week and may be available on the Internet. Google: Illinois Republican Renaissance project.

There is, at least, no evidence to the contrary and Jack Roeser is a reliable and reputable guy.

Rep. Kirk voted for cap & trade last year. The vote was in June 2009.

And hopefully in 6 years we can replace him with someone more conservative.

Exactly!

All valid points for where the country was at the time. The change since in the mood and activity of the people has changed that. We will have much more influence now then we did in the past. We need to get as many positions filled as possible then keep the pressure on. If we do, we can eliminate more of the RINOs in the next election. If we don’t, the people who have begun to pay attention and worked so hard will get discouraged thinking we have no chance.

I stand corrected but he voted for it in any event and then came up with some ridiculous shuck and jive about not understanding what it was or whatever.

Gee! I would hope that living in Virginia would help to make Kirk much more conservative, overall!

What relationship is there between the fate of Nancy Pelosi and the Senate election involving Mark Kirk and Alexi Giannoulias? Harry Reid cannot be Majority Leader if he is not a Senator. His primary power as Majority Leader or McConnell's is to schedule Senate business but we have enough Republican Senators and will soon have more to stop the Senate in its tracks. No Senate, no legislation that the Obamunists crave. We don't need Nancyboy Kirk to achieve what is already achieved.

No one thinks it possible for the GOP to wind up with 60 Senators come January. Any Demonrat Senator or Snowe or Collins or any other "Republican" like them, can stop the music on Republican proposals. Nancyboy is basically irrelevant except when it comes to financing the bad guys in the Illinois GOP and further spoiling the GOP brand name in this state.

I was using them as an example and it evidently didn’t come through well. My point is that we need as many with the R designation at this point as we can. The primaries are over. This election is only the beginning but we people with the R then more conservatives next election with continued pressure in between.
