This is a great idea and the comments after the article on the source site by Leo Linbeck III are quite informative. What say you all?

As I read Section 10 of the Constitution, an interstate compact on health insurance would need
only the "consent of Congress." It wouldn't require Presidential approval, nor could the POTUS veto it.
In other words, a very neat way to repeal Obamacare that would seem totally immune to Big Ø's objections. Excellent!

My gawd...a truly good idea that’s original (at least, it seems original to me).
What I cannot understand is why this didn’t come from the brilliant, genius-level public servants in the Obamaloon administration. /sarc
When one desires originality and creativity, one does NOT look to the progressive side of politics.

Congress would never approve this. It takes away their POWER.

IF the congress changes hands this year it will be with too few votes to override a fillibuster in the senate and certainly with too few to override a presidential veto. So the GOP will not be able to do much but block any further efforts to implement new leftist agenda items along with denying funding to existing leftist programs. So nothing of a positive nature is likely to take place prior to the 2012 elections.
IF the congress plus the presidency is in GOP hands after the 2012 election then proposals of this sort have a chance.
All of this assumes that the electorate stays involved and forces these elected officials to act for the good of the country. IF the electorate stays committed then there is hope.
That is a lot of IFs but if there really is a decisive swing to the right then I expect a number of
“novel” ideas to be brought up and tried at many levels. In fact it is vital that this happen if the people ever expect to take back their government. If the people just trade one set of politicians for another and then let the whole thing go back to running on auto pilot we can expect little or no real change.

One way to wipe out collectivism is to allow other people and ideas to compete against it.

That, and the fact that it looks like a whole lot of states are going to end up with Republican governors, maybe majority legislative bodies too.
Another thing to pray for!

The States that will force their Electoral College votes go to the candidate with the most votes, is a Compact or a Conspiracy?

Not exactly a homeschool issue, but one which could be incorporated into learning about the government and political process.
Not to mention that it affects us all anyway.

Paladino really needs our prayers. They're ramping up the pressure on him and the NYSlimes is living down to its reputation reporting on him.
