IF the congress changes hands this year it will be with too few votes to override a fillibuster in the senate and certainly with too few to override a presidential veto. So the GOP will not be able to do much but block any further efforts to implement new leftist agenda items along with denying funding to existing leftist programs. So nothing of a positive nature is likely to take place prior to the 2012 elections.

IF the congress plus the presidency is in GOP hands after the 2012 election then proposals of this sort have a chance.

All of this assumes that the electorate stays involved and forces these elected officials to act for the good of the country. IF the electorate stays committed then there is hope.

That is a lot of IFs but if there really is a decisive swing to the right then I expect a number of
“novel” ideas to be brought up and tried at many levels. In fact it is vital that this happen if the people ever expect to take back their government. If the people just trade one set of politicians for another and then let the whole thing go back to running on auto pilot we can expect little or no real change.

That, and the fact that it looks like a whole lot of states are going to end up with Republican governors, maybe majority legislative bodies too.

Another thing to pray for!
