On Falcon Lake in Zapata County, TX two boatloads of Mexican drug cartel gunmen shot at an American wife and husband as they were riding jet skis, and the man is presumed dead as reported by Lynn Brezosky for San Antonio Express-News. Zapata County Sheriff Sigifrido Gonzalez Jr "says this is his worst nightmare" as reported by Eddie Flores for KRGV:

"The one thing I dread on Falcon Lake has happened. The lake is not secure and the border is not secure. We can't go to Mexico, we can't recover the body. We can't investigate, we have to tell the family we can't do anything about it."

American recreational boaters and fishermen increasingly have been targeted for robbery by armed gangs on Falcon Lake. Last May U.S. and Mexican authorities thwarted a plot by Mexican drug cartel Los Zetas to blow up the 5-mile-long Falcon Dam on the lower Rio Grande along the Texas-Mexico border.

How about we string a minefield down the channel of the Rio Grande beneath the lake?

The Mexican government continues to blame the US for all it’s troubles. Of course, the maoist agrees.

I really hate the term drug cartel. It makes it sound like all of mexico’s problems are because of drugs and not a cultural problem.

Obama and the national press could care less - and that includes Fox. On the other hand, Bush didn’t care, either.

“I really hate the term drug cartel.”

You know, you’re really right about this and make a great point. The so-called “drug cartels” actually are just full-fledged crime groups engaged in all the typical rackets (extortion, prostitution, immigrant smuggling, drugs), and they often are broad based cultural institutions in their communities involved with everything from dirty politics and local aid.

Gov Perry needs to declare open season on pirates and cartels on our borders and lakes.

He ought to offer a bounty for verifiable heads on platters. He ought to recall the Guard and extend the payment of the bounty to include all persons, including on-duty State Troopers, Texas Rangers, Border Patrol and Guard members. Bring back a head, receive a reward.

As far as I can tell, there’s zero evidence of drugs in this case.

IMHO, a handful of two-man-teams, armed with Barrett 50's, could do more to stop illegal immigration than a mile-high wall.

The problem is not on the Mexican Border. The problem is in Washington.

The grim reality is that the U.S. Government has de facto ceded certain parts of our own damn country to lawless Mexicans--at least we hope they are Mexicans.

I once lived on a beautiful piece of property far from the Mexican Border but adjacent to a national forest.

To be next to a national forest was an important selling point and added to the value of the property. However, even many years ago, I realized the potential danger.

I--very reluctantly--sold the property.

Now I realize how lucky I am not to live there!

If present trends continue, it's just a matter of time before all the U.S. national parks, national forests, and other real estate, including parts of cities, will be ceded to lawless foreigners.

It's just a matter of time--and not much time!
