Judging by the underwhelming response part one of this article received it is obvious that the rest of the country is as unenthusiastic about the GOP Pledge as I am. I received plenty of comments from readers and none of them were positive. Here is a small sample of what my readers thought, lame, vague, and this thing is little better than toilet paper. Lets hope that GOP leadership gets the message that we are not looking for more of the same left of center policies that were used during the Bush years. The American People want Reagan era conservatism brought back to Washington and for our leaders to start governing by the Constitution.
For the life of me I dont understand why our leaders dont understand this. They are so worried about being accepted by the old media which nobody watches anymore when they should be worried about what their constituents want. We are a representative republic and our representatives stopped representing us long ago. Well in case you havent been paying attention, a bunch of you will be getting pink-slips in 34 days.
The pledge does little to reign in out-of-control spending and the authors went out of the way to pacify the left by stating that they intend to protect entitlement programs. The American People understand that our current system is unsustainable and that we have to make some tough choices to phase out many of the more than 2,000 entitlement programs.

How about getting some brass ones and calling for elimination of Capital Gains for 2 years - to REALLY jump start the economy, and let ZERO veto it.
The GOP ain’t gonna do **** as long as people like Mitch McConnel are running it.
I imagine that conservatives will be installed to deal with Obama, and then after that, the GOP establisment will then get its walking papers as well.
The “Pledge” IMHO...is just an excuse not to have to read and follow the Constitution.
I don’t recall seeing anything in the pledge about ensuring the integrity of the voting process, i.e., only citizens lawfully allowed to vote may cast a ballot and making absolutely sure that our military members are able to vote in a timely manner and that their votes are counted.
