We're bowing down to Islamic fanatics: The president is hired to stand up for free speech
The Charleston Daily Mail ^ | September 22, 2010 | Don Surber

Even at a time when a torrent of words floods the world every nanosecond of ever day, the words of Mark D. Fefer of the Seattle Weekly were chilling, as befit the circumstances.

"You may have noticed that Molly Norris' comic is not in the paper this week," Fefer wrote. "That's because there is no more Molly."

On a lark, Norris called for an Everybody Draw Mohammad Day to protest the death threats against those who had dared to draw Mohammad.

The Koran apparently forbids depictions of Mohammad, and Revolution Muslim posted on its Web site a picture of the decapitated body of Theo Van Gogh, warning that Norris would meet the same fate.

That organization is run by imam Anwar al-Awlaki, who was born in America but who now lives in Yemen.

The FBI advised Norris to go underground - even to the point of changing her name and her location. She was terrified into going into hiding. Instead of protecting her right to draw whoever she wanted, the FBI hid her.

I am angry.

Norris has the right to draw cartoons of Mohammad, openly and without fear of decapitation. It is the FBI's duty to protect her.

George Carlin once did a bit about things you never hear in a movie. For example, he said, you never hear a cowboy say: Do what you want to the girl, but leave me alone.

That, sadly, is the kind of cowboy we now have in the White House.

Norris is not alone. Pastor Terry Jones abandoned his plans to burn a Koran or two after being leaned on by the secretary of state, the secretary of defense and the commander of U.S. forces in Afghanistan.

To be sure, Pastor Jones made the call to cancel his dumb stunt - just as Norris did on her decision to go into hiding.

Give the American Civil Liberties Union its due. In a letter to the editor of the Gainesville Sun, in Jones' hometown, the organization said, "You can't pick and choose who is protected by the Constitution.

"It's an uncomfortable, ugly display but it's his right to do it. We can defend that right, and then march across the street and protest his hateful speech."

Sadly, we have Justice Stephen Breyer, who said burning a Koran is akin to yelling fire in a crowded theater.

Breyer is an idiot who backed down only after someone pointed out that burning a flag is protected speech. Breyer even voted to uphold the right to burn a cross on the lawn of an interracial couple.

James Taranto of the Wall Street Journal compared the sacrificing of Norris to the president's support of the Ground Zero mosque.

"Now Molly Norris, an American citizen, is forced into hiding because she exercised her right to free speech," Taranto wrote.

"Will President Obama say a word on her behalf? Does he believe in the First Amendment for anyone other than Muslims?"

It's a good question.

Mark Steyn of Canada also weighed in.

Steyn battled and vanquished officials in Canada who wanted to fine him for writing things that offended the Canadian Islamic Congress.

"It is a basic rule of life that if you reward bad behavior, you get more of it," Steyn wrote.

"Every time Muslims either commit violence or threatens it, we reward them by capitulating.

"Indeed, President Obama, Justice Breyer, Gen. Petraeus, and all the rest are now telling Islam, you don't have to kill anyone, you don't even have to threaten to kill anyone. We'll be your enforcers.

"We'll demand that the most footling and insignificant of our own citizens submit to the universal jurisdiction of Islam."

How will Norris fare? Fefer reported her reaction to being told by the FBI to always keep watch for someone following her. She said, "Well, at least it'll keep me from being so self-involved!"

She will be fine. It is our nation that I worry about.

I dunno. I think a lot of cowboys would look at the latest queen hillary look and think, what the heck, every credo has it’s exceptions.

The Usurper was hired with a false, deceitful resume propagated by the CommieCrates!

He was not legitimately hired, but rather ‘assumed’ his present position, with the help of a lot of powerful and rich people who are each and every one guilty of Treason!

How come the people who are so up in arms that this pastor didn’t burn Korans, basically ignore that General Petraeus burned many more Bibles. Face it, that story was ignored, by comparison. So all these people are way more pro-Koran burning, and aren’t offended by Bible burning.

There is a right to destroy other people's property as well as intimidate them? Breyer is an idiot and no American. Do I have a right to burn MORON on his lawn?

IF she must be forced into hiding, then true Americans should band together to protect her. I’m in. I do not fear any cowardly Mohammedan, especially the clowns who cover their faces and hide in women’s clothes.

If the government won’t protect us from their threats, we’ll do it ourselves. Mohammedans surely don’t want US hunting them down for decapitating ANY American citizens.

Obama announced even in one of his autobiographies that he will stand with the muslims.

He is proving that, when it comes to muslims, he meant what he said.

Hitler’s Mein Kampf wasn’t taken seriously when it was written either.

I just saw Ambassador John Bolton on Fox News. He commented about the Messiah remarking that the U.S. can absorb another terrorist attack even greater than 9/11.

Ambassador Bolton said this was an outrageous remark by Barack Hussein Obama since it means that he will not defend this country against terrorist attacks. He will treat any future mamouth attack (maybe one with nuclear weapons) as another even such as a bad storm somewhere. Even if Republicans do get enough of a majority we are in for another awful two years under the Messiah.
