Is Karl Rove smarter than we think?
FR ^ | 9/17/10 | me

Karl Rove just might be too smart by half.

If HE trashes O’Donnel (and makes her a sympathetic figure) then the Democraps can’t do it later

(and you know they would be using ALL of Rove’s stuff... but it would be very different coming from them)

It is like this- if your opponent knows you cheated on your wife and is prepared to floor you with it at a debate- you start your debate by saying “Yes, I cheated on my wife, but at least I am not as bad as my opponent who created the housing melt down...”

Mr K., Like it or not, I suspect you don’t like it, Rove did a very stupid thing. He trashed his own future value as a conservative and there is no other way to look at it. Rove did an idiotic thing, so get use to it and stop trying to paint a picture that does not exist.

Tokyo Rove needs to explain his part in the debacles of 2006 and 2008 before he gets to continue as an “expert”.

2006 was the angry electorate run-up to 2008. Now we are seeing the same thing only it's Democrats and RINOS in the crosshairs.

I can see your point but the “twisted logic” of all this is too hard for me to wrap my brain around... not enough coffee yet, I guess...

No, but the getting the hard stuff out early is WAY better that it coming out now or later!

Coons may have the ugly stuff coming out late problem... “a Bearded Marxist” and he ‘won’t be a Senator, he’ll be Harry Reid’s PET!’

Tuesday night he was reacting emotionally.
All day Wednesday he was pushing an agenda

God knows what agenda benefits from having a Republican lose a Senate election. That’s the real question.

I have heard that Rove wants Jeb Bush to run.

You know who comes to mind - Mark Sanford. People think just because someone delivers the right throwaway lines - less taxes, smaller government, God, country, etc, etc., too many people check their intellect at the door and proceed with blind obedience. Maybe, just maybe, Rove - as a 35-year political operative - doesn't. Maybe he's seen more than his share of deeply flawed candidates and knows how this movie ends.

Contrary to uninformed opinion, it's not the opposition that has the best opposition research - it your own party. O'Donnell has some strange stories tied to her already. Maybe they're all phony, or maybe they're just the tip of the ice-burg. But, I'll come back to Mark Sanford - just because someone says all the right things doesn't mean they're going to be a great candidate. And, just like O'Donnell is being reflexively defended - and her critics attacked - the EXACT same thing happened with Mark Sanford. How did that end?

Is Rove smarter than "we" think - well it depends who "we" is. Do "we" have 35+ years managing candidates. If "we" don't, then yes, he's probably smarter than "we" are.

It would be nice to think that. I don’t believe he is doing anything to help O’Donnell.

The RINO central boyz hate the Tea Party and they hate real conservatives.

Every cloud has a silver lining.

Christine O'Donnell probably had a shoestring staff while she was running under the radar. She made mistakes because she was wearing too many hats.

Now she should have the cash to have staff carry the water and handle the media chores. She can focus her energy on her strengths, one of which is an appealing public image.

Let the pros handle the messages and rebuttals.

She needs to paint Coons as an Obama groupie and she'll be OK.

Its going to get a lot dirtier later, so handling Karl Rove now will be a good warm up.

My 2 cents.

Sorry, but I don’t buy it. Rove is simply a RINO, DC insider, whining and slinging darts because his guy lost. These members of the ruling class don’t LIKE it when their power and authority are questioned be we the “little people.”

Is he that insane—or does he just want to keep his Bush options open for the future?

No. I can elaborate if you wish, but I think it’s very safe to say he screwed up and this is personal.

LOL.... Bob Shrum has 40 years of "managing candidates."

That destroys that argument.

No. He got Bush elected 2 times. He was a close advisor to him. Some of his influences made it into Bush Policy. He is what he said.

Excuse me, Excuse me everyone...

How many of us donated after hearing Rove’s remarks?

Krauthammer and Rove’s remarks?

Could it be Alinsky in reverse to use against the Democrats...you know the one? To get the desired outcome...

We all donated.

I really do believe there are some that think we would get behind another Bush.

No more, thank you.
