Should Tiger be included on the Ryder Cup Team?
Is he a former PGA phenom? Without question. Did he have an exceptional 2010 season? No, he had a decidedly lackluster 2010 season. Was he the first African-American golfer to achieve superstar status and retain it over several seasons? Aha! I think that could be the key!
When we put together an Olympic hockey or soccer team, we dont select a player who is the first Croatian-American who plays a mediocre hockey or soccer game, and who happens to be grappling with some emotional problems. No, we go for the guys who will best represent the USA and bring back the gold!
Everybody knows why Tiger may have had a bad season. Blonde bimbos, divorce, huge settlement yada, yada, yada.
Hey, guys screw up! Especially, young guys who are sports superstars or Hollywood matinee idols with a seemingly endless supply of money. The groupies come out of the woodwork when they catch the scent of the large green. This is nothing new.
Should sports fans forgive him? Weve forgiven worse.
Should he be given an honorary spot on the Ryder Cup Team because hes a former phenom, or because theres a good reason why he had a dismal season? Probably not.
Hell, Arnold Palmer is a former phenom; lets get him!
But then, theres that African-American thing
Tiger has rejuvenated his game lately, maybe you don’t follow him but he is the most dominant player on average although he had an awful first few months back.
Ya think?
napscoordinator,
You’ve got it all wrong.
Ryder cup takes place every two years.
Between America and the best of Euroope.
So even you could be selected.
It is the best of each that competes in various ways to play a golf game.
Tiger despite his human failings is still a golfing force.
Now then, what part of Italy are you at?
Tiger on the Ryder Cup team is all about television and money. Despite Tiger’s troubles and his poor play of late, he still drives ratings up when he is a tournament.
I am in Sigonella which is on Sicily. It is beautiful. There is a Naval Air Station here and that is what I am part of. Thanks for asking!!!!
There are only 34 Rules Of Golf.
Email me if you want on the Golf Ping List.
Visit PGA.com, an excellent site.
The only problem I have with his placement is when he had the awful tourney, he said he shouldnt be selected the way he was playing on Monday. That Wednesday he accepted. He hadnt played a tourney in between, so how did he improve enough in 2 days to be worthy?
I have no idea what you’re trying to state with your flashing comment.
There are about 50 golfers on the Golf Ping List. Note I did not notify them of this post, only responded back to you. I thank FReepers for their bridge duty, as trolls live under bridges. How in the h*ll did you ever discover a troll? :-)
What a ridiculous vanity....and analogy. Tiger Woods is the best GOLFER there ever was. Regardless of race, ethnicity, personal failings, he is the most talented and genuinely sport-altering athlete there ever was. (Jordan is second).
I know it’s popular to “hate” on those that achieve, and his personal life is an easy target to distract from the reality , but facts are stubborn things.I reccommend that you Youtube Tiger Woods......if you truely understand, and appreciate golf, you will probably change your position.
If I were the Ryder Cup coach (Pavin), I would have begged Tiger to join the team. I would consider Tiger not being on the team as an obvious detriment to the USA’s chances of a championship.
This man has single-handedly revolutionized a sport....in his learning years. I’m sorry he’s had a disappointing year...(abbreviated schedule) When he doesn’t win every week, he must be a phenom has-been?.....living on his past accomplishments?.....wow.
We are watching BaBe Ruth, Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky and Pele all rolled up into one.....right before our eyes, and because it seemingly came all too easy for him, we immediate;y pounce on his stumbles? As I recall, they all had their own picadillos too. You may want to put aside your feined outrage of infidelity.....afterall, celebrities never cheat.
Tiger is just a man. He is also lightning in a bottle. You may want to remember, and appreciate the history your are watching unfold before your eyes......I say he should be on the Ryder Team......I imagine Corey Pavin is sleeping better because of it.
Wife’s NaNa came from the most north part of the Piedmont area.
In two years I’ve promised to take her there for a vacation.
Very near the Swiss border.
I like the sun and water and think I’d rather visit the Sicily area though they have THAT reputation.
Tiger’s father left him some sage advice before his death; Tiger, he said, keep your eye on your game, screw everything else.
I simply checked his start date, then went to his “In Forum”. His history was an open book (A very short book...). It didn’t take much to figure him out. Typical Troll methods.
BTW, put me on your ping list.
I guess you are the racist. Don’t post trash like this again.
I'm missing the point...you mean Obama? Tiger likes girls...
; D
Apparently, you’re going to continue posting a thread and then refuse to respond to subsequent replies to you. After all, that’s common troll methodology. But it only works for a short while, them WAM!
You can run, but you can no longer hide...
And whose Ryder Cup record is 10-13-1. As long as he's playing for himself, Tiger is fine.
“I am in Sigonella which is on Sicily”
Wow, lucky you! I spent a month there TAD for some medical classes when I was stationed at Rota, Spain, 2003-2005. Loved Sig. And Rota!
Now stationed in central Germany. Not as good as either Sig or Rota, but still good!
Regards,
Levante
i’d say we will see a much better tiger that this years ryder. this will be his proper return to golf
