Lack of Vetting Dooms Attack Ad in NM Governor’s Race
The Blaze ^ | Posted on September 10, 2010 | Scott Baker

Sometimes it only takes 30 seconds to render a lot of expensive TV production effort totally worthless.

This come to us from the New Mexico governor’s race. The Republican frontrunner is Susana Martinez. She‘s facing Bill Richardson’s Lieutenant Governor Diane Denish.

Without giving away the punchline here, the NEA launched the original salvo on behalf of Denish. It didn’t work out very well:

THE VIDEO AD TITLED "CONVICTED"!

Thus far the Denish campaign has not commented on whether or not they had approved of the NEA ad ahead of time.

The race is close — but Martinez has a slight lead. As Ed Morrisey says, “Don’t be surprised to see that trend accelerate a bit after this round of dueling attack ads.”

Yeah, my Dad still lives there, and my Aunt used to be a state Rep for a conservative area, but it’s a liberal state. Hope to see things change tho.

It’s happening Brytlea. Slowly, but we’re getting there. I’ve lived here 8 years this month and have seen it changing. I think folks feel utterly raped and pillaged by Richardson and some of the ostriches are finally pulling their heads out of the sand and looking around.
Thank goodness!

I remember my mother complaining way back that people from CA were moving in and bringing their stupid liberal ideas (they ruined CA and they had a lot of money from selling their over priced houses and could pay too much for homes and land in NM and they wanted to remake NM into what they were trying to get away from in CA). Gosh, that was 35 or so years ago. She was apparently psychic.
But, we want to retire in NM (my Mom’s family came there in the late 1800s, Dexter/Roswell area, in fact, my Granny’s house was the first house in Dexter). I don’t like the turn it has taken, so I do hope things are changing for the better. It’s truly an enchanting place and my heart and roots are there.

I sure hope things will change, but not to toss out ice water, the dems still do the vote counting, and there is always the possibility/probability of enough "lost" ballots showing up to swing things their way.

At least you don’t have to listen to McCain!

FL has been so ugly this year. Uglier than all the usual denizens.

Teacher in Ad Has Link to Martinez

It seems the teach, Freda Trujillo, married the kidnapper, Jesus Carmona, in 2004. In 2002, Carmona had been charged with battering his ex-girlfriend with the possibility of death or great bodily harm and kidnapping. Carmona's first conviction was overturned on appeal. He was retried and convicted in 2006 and sentenced in 2007. Somewhere along the line Freda divorced him.

Denish's ad is an example of what, in sports and politics, is called an unforced error. How could Denish's handlers not have heard of Freda's ex-husband? LOL!

True Greyfoxx, but on the hopeful side, the Albuquerque Tea Party has held quite a few training classes for poll watchers and poll challengers I think it’s called. A professional organization that does the training came in and did it ~ they had so many attend that they had to offer extra dates.

Hopefully that will help a lot!

That’s very encouraging. Is there anything new on trying to get voter ID enacted?

It’s proof that sometime good things happen to benefit good people!!!

No. Sadly enough :-(

When we voted in the primary, we did so in person because our absentee ballots never came even though we applied for ‘permanent absentee status’. They never asked for ID or anything. I said I could be anyone! The man agreed.

The Court of Appeals judgment in the kidnapper's appeal sheds light into a squalid corner of New Mexico teacher demography.

Nonetheless, slowly but surely the rational center at Albuquerque is dominating politics in New Mexico. The proof? A Republican mayor was elected in Albuqerque, which I believe was the first time ever.

While Albuquerque does have a republican mayor, the fact is, two dems split the ticket, one as a dem, one as an independent. When that happened, the republican came out with the majority. However, when tallied, the two dems had the majority of votes. Albuquerque is still dominated by leftists and center left.

The truly sad thing here is that many vote Dem because that’s how they always voted, and that’s how the family always voted before them. Their family values, ideology and faith always lean conservative, but they vote Dem.

Amen
Does New Mexico want a tough prosecutor to clean up after Bill Richardsons corruption or a Status Quo political Hack?

Thanks for the ping. First time I’ve seen the ad too; don’t watch much NM stations or news. It’s a keeper. Got my Susana sign up in the yard.

One of the best ads I’ve “ever” seen. ______________________________________________________________ Have you seen the one run by Meg Ryan against Jerry Brown in the CA Governor's race using Bill Clintons words against Brown in the 1992 Dem Presidential Primary? It was shown on Hannity the other night. Pat Caddell said it is the most damning ad of the campaign season.
