Book burning is antithetical to American ideals. People have a constitutional right to burn a Koran if they want to, but doing so is insensitive and an unnecessary provocation much like building a mosque at Ground Zero.

She did not need to be for this.....but she sure as hell should not have come out against it.
There is a time to remain silent.....this was one of those times.
I say that Pastor Jones should cut a deal with the Imam. He won’t burn the Koran, if the Imam won’t build the mosque on Ground Zero.
Oh what, Imam? Then you don’t think too much of your holy book.
IOW, Jones should call the Imam on it. I’ll be very disappointed if he doesn’t.
I didn’t chastise you, I was merely pointing out that this is not the venue for an in-depth Bible study.
“They should not be a protected religion.”
Just next time don’t holler about how you want a “strict constructionist justice” on the SCOTUS. Are radical muslims a continuing threat to commit acts of terror on Americans? Hell Yes. Is Islam ever going to seriously take root in America? Hell No. Its concepts, ideas, and rules are completely foreign to Americans. Buddism would have a better chance to become the dominant religion.
If you really are shaking in boots that you might hear a call to prayer in a supermarket, however, you should support unlimited immigration from Mexico. Besides their Catholicism, the three things Mexican men love are scantily clad chicas con grande chi-chis and pompis, cervesas, y chicarones.
>>>This idiot pastor is enabling the radical Islamists to condemn Christianity and Judaism and burn our bibles.<<<
They never needed an excuse before! They have an extensive history of burning bibles, churches, synagogues, and even Christians and Jews (when they are not beheading them).
BTW, there is no such thing as a “moderate” muslim. There are muslims (those who adhere to the Koran), and false muslims (those who don’t). Don’t fall for the big lie.
Not really.. I disagree with her on this issue but I'm not changing my tagline because of it.
I disagree. Sorry Sarah, can’t go along with you on this one.
Especially since I just glimpsed CBS news showing footage of KKK rallies in relation to American’s rights to assemble and protest. Katie looked VERY concerned. That tells me I’m right.
This is a dumb action by the pastor.
Nothing good will come of this.
Barbour, Coulter, Palin, and the rest are correct.
Another member of the “Make a Mountain Out of a Molehill” Brigard chimes in.
I am no pacifist, and have never said that there are not things worth fighting for. But what does this particular event accomplish? Does it somehow deal a defeat to radical Islam? No. Does it advance the cause of Christ? No. So what exactly is this pastor fighting for? What does he hope to accomplish?
Brigard = Brigade
Looks like the word has gone forth that there will be no burning and no one wants to miss the bus.
They believe, that proclaiming Islam a religion of peace and denouncing a Koran burning by a private citizens will help save the lives of the citizens and troops they are bound to protect.
But this makes no sense in the end.
How can a peaceful religion threaten death and destruction of innocents if it is simply offended?
Our leaders must get used to the fact that WE THE PEOPLE no longer believe them.
That we know the truth and have seen it with our own eyes.
Our leaders FEAR Islam.
And we can no longer depend on them for solutions, we can no longer look to them for our protection.
We are on our own.
I might add that those who would use physical coercion to keep those from hearing the good message of Christianity should bear the legal costs.
My question: would it be disrespectful if I did a sympathy destruction of the Quran by deleting it from my Kindle?
Defend what nonsense? Look, if this act had the potential to open the eyes of millions of Muslims to the gospel, but the price was that more Christians might be martyred, well, I would pray for them, but I would say fine. But it just appears to me that this places people in danger for no gain at all - so why do it, especially if you are ostensibly doing it in the name of Christ?
For those who haven’t read the whole not here it is.
Koran Burning Is Insensitive, Unnecessary; Pastor Jones, Please Stand Down
Book burning is antithetical to American ideals. People have a constitutional right to burn a Koran if they want to, but doing so is insensitive and an unnecessary provocation much like building a mosque at Ground Zero.
I would hope that Pastor Terry Jones and his supporters will consider the ramifications of their planned book-burning event. It will feed the fire of caustic rhetoric and appear as nothing more than mean-spirited religious intolerance. Dont feed that fire. If your ultimate point is to prove that the Christian teachings of mercy, justice, freedom, and equality provide the foundation on which our country stands, then your tactic to prove this point is totally counter-productive.
Our nation was founded in part by those fleeing religious persecution. Freedom of religion is integral to our charters of liberty. We dont need to agree with each other on theological matters, but tolerating each other without unnecessarily provoking strife is how we ensure a civil society. In this as in all things, we should remember the Golden Rule. Isnt that what the Ground Zero mosque debate has been about?
- Sarah Palin
Barbour, Coulter and Palin should probably shut up about this.
