Banned Book Weeks celebrates the freedom to read, the freedom to choose and the freedom to express one's opinion, even if it is unorthodox. Sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) since 1982, it has become an annual event reminding Americans not to take this democratic freedom for granted.

Here are some banned books to read. A reference librarian at Ohio State University actually got into serious trouble for recommending these titles to freshmen:

The books at the website are banned?? Banned from where?
The Catcher in the Rye and Animal Farm were required reading in my HS English class. Along with several other of these books.
