In the wake of a dispute between WorldNetDaily editor Joseph Farah and conservative author Ann Coulter over her decision to headline an event sponsored by GOProud, a gay conservative organization, Farah and GOProud Chairman Christopher Barron will square off in a debate later this month at WND’s convention.
Barron told The Daily Caller that Farah challenged him to debate over whether GOProud can be considered “conservative” after Farah argued on his site that there is no place within conservatism for an organization like GOProud, a group that promotes itself as “the only national organization representing gay conservatives and their allies.” TheDC is waiting for confirmation from WND about the debate’s details.
Farah dropped Coulter from a speaking engagement at WND’s annual “Taking America Back” convention in Miami for agreeing to speak at GOProud’s “Homocon” party in New York. (Coulter later said that Farah had never actually booked her for a speech, calling him a “swine” and a “publicity whore.”)
Farah contends that groups like GOProud are trying to commit a “coup” to unroot the conservative movement with an “agenda…to take the homosexual agenda inside the conservative tent.”
Barron insists that his group is genuinely conservative and said he looks forward taking on Farah in front of a WND crowd.
Since we announced that conservative author and columnist Ann Coulter would be headlining our Homocon 2010 in New York City, Farah has attacked GOProud, attacked Ann, and challenged our work almost every single day, Barron said in a statement to The Daily Caller. I look forward to standing on the stage with Mr. Farah to defend GOProud, to debunk the misinformation he has spread, and to make the case for GOProuds conservative mission.
Barron added that conservatism stands at a major crossroads in its acceptance of gays into the movement. A number of high profile conservatives, including Lisa De Pasquale of the Conservative Political Action Conference, Grover Norquist of Americans for Tax Reform and former General Counsel to the National Republican Senatorial Committee Craig Engle, have signed on as official sponsors of GOProud’s event.
The debate will be held on September 17 at 7:30 PM at the Doral Golf and Spa Resort in Miami, Florida.

Okay then I will ask you, are you for repeal of DADT, for civil unions for homos or even same sex marriage?
Anyone with two unbiased brain cells to rub together can read what you wrote - especially by reading the threads linked, and the context, and see your tacit approval and claims that most people in the military will be “fine, just fine” with homosexuals in the military, and it won’t hurt morale.
So I didn’t remember the exact, precise wording.
I remembered the tone and your (as usual) leftist messaging.
If you want to find some comments you’ve made saying that homosexuals in the military are not a good thing, be my guest!
I can only assume that since you are now denying that you’ve said what you’ve said in the past, that you would agree, then, with these statements:
1. I am opposed to the repeal of DADT and the allowing of open homosexuals in the military.
2. Allowing open homosexuals in the military will harm military readiness and morale.
Agree, or disagree?
It is long past the bedroom. It is in our schools and our churches and our courts.
If you think that as an active duty service member I'm going to make such a declarative statement on a public forum, a statement that could potentially bring serious career-damaging repercussions for me in the future, you're crazy.
You understand that he spewed garbage about Coulter? And insulted her several times?
And you are defending that as his "view?"
Are you his mom?
Sorry, Ann doesn't swing that way.
Sweetheart, I LIVE in West Hollywood. I am surrounded by "butt bandits." And I have actually talked to them at length, and SOME of them can ultimately be led to understand that drilling ANWR will benefit them more in the long run than gay marriage, that Muslims will treat them far worse than Christians, should they ever get the chance, and that the military will do more for this country than the wardrobe department at WB.
I'm amazed you think having one gay family member makes you an expert. It doesn't. You and all your fellow Christians who are more interested in making a stand for the Old Testament than in weaning gays off of socialism do this country no good. And no, the Founding Fathers weren't fundamentalist Christians who spent more time worrying about sodomy than anything else. I'll let this reply be my answer to all the other "Thomas Jefferson was just like me" posts I'm seeing on here.
Chickens***.
Snicker.
I made such statements often when I was active duty.
I also got very unwelcome passes from gays - even back then they refused to keep entirely away when they weren’t welcome. It’s not okay. You could say I am your antithesis.
But then, I am one of those recently disparaged people who puts God ahead of government whenever the two conflict.
The founding fathers and those who came after them saw no problem whatsoever with laws against homosexual acts, until leftiss influence in the latter half of the 20th century.
Unless and until you can cite some sources other than your friends that many homosexuals want constitutional governance, your comments will be taken as what they are obvious to be.
The vocal homosexuals who do not agree with nor want enforcement of the “gay” agenda (which is part and parcel of huge leftist goverment control) can be counted on a couple of fingers of one hand.
No. I’m not his mother. And never have seen him post before today. He has an opinion of Coulter contrary to yours. And you took it personally. I don’t understand the “fan” concept in adults. As I said upthread, I don’t listen to or read any commentators. I just find it strange that people get so angry.
Yes and possible banishment from FR to boot.
Now that is the truth. That’s why a lot of leftists on FR dance around and skirt around, pushing leftist agenda crap - like on this thread - and then deny they said what they said, use weasel words, and then silence when asked questions. All of a sudden...crickets...
Ah-so, there's your problem, you need to move......
Snicker.
Let's see, you couldn't find the statement you accused me of making so you tried to bait me into making it for you.
Loser.
You Christians who spend more time obsessing about gays than figuring out how to get this country back on track are part of the problem. But there's no way to make you understand because religious fanatics don't particularly care, ultimately, about this country nearly as much as they care about the Kingdom they think is coming.
That's why so many Christians are liberals, and why many of those who do call themselves conservatives are of little real use in the struggle to save this country.
