Just why is a birth rate that is lower even than the Great Depression years due to a recession?

And how is the fact that we went from having the most births in American history in 2007 to the worst birth rate ever "Bush's fault"?

Socialism has that effect on society.

Don’t tell the Democrats or they’ll mandate baby-making or something. Or they will mandate a bailout for the debt-loads of un-wed mothers to stimulate fertility or something. All of their policy-solutions are so uniformly god-awful that I just don’t want them to know about any crisis that they don’t already know about and are already poised to screw up even more than it’s already screwed.

America's birth rate is lower than at any time in the last last 100 years.

America's same sex marriage rate is at it's highest level ever.

Certainly there is no connection....

Low birth rate, PLUS:

New data shows that 40 percent of all children and 72 percent of black children are born outside marriage

If poor single mothers married the fathers of their children, nearly two-thirds could escape poverty immediately.

Government spends $300 billion annually to assist low-income single parents.

Now, the real problem is what price do children caught in a single mom household pay. If she does not have an older father figure to step in and fill the void of the missing father, how does it affect the child’s future. There are a lot of grandparents now raising their grandchildren.

some of date here:

Recently I caught a call-in discussion on NPR where people called in to share their desires and experiences in having child-free marriages. Mostly folks who felt they were doing there part to minimize a so-called population explosion. One lady said she and her husband went out on the town every year on the anniversary of his vascectomy, to spend the money they were saving on school supplies, children's clothes etc.

What these self-absorbed hedonists fail to realize is that they are actually insuring the continuance an ever-diminishing labor pool that is going to end up footing the bill for supporting the current generation of boomers entering - and expanding - the seasoned citizens' rolls. I don't see how anyone can look to the future of this country and anticipate a sudden reversal of fortune of what so obviously awaits us...

The deepening recession, along with general discontent is Obama’s fault. The low birth rate, not entirely so. The planet is heading first to replacement level, then probably to declining population as the world adopts higher living standards.

Obama has accelerated the trend here, and since there is no more private economy expansion; therefore immigration, the source of our population growth, is declining. Imigration works two ways: direct population increase followed by high birthrates for a couple of generations. I think when we get over Obama, we’ll go back to an expanding US population by imigration.

I, for one, dislike children.

So does my wife - BTW I'm not an lesbian woman, I'm a man.

We both had very awful childhoods and we both know - positively - that the world is a better place because we did not have children.

More power to all of you with your families - congratulations to you all!

Some of us were never meant to be parents.

The Birth Rate of illegal alians is going through the roof and the government is Not reporting that.

These Young females are coming here and having multiple children and they’re Less then a Year apart.

GO to a major metropolitain hospital and you’ll see what I mean. Then their are the Parasites who live off the WIC Program who feel its their right to sponge off of the Tax Payer.

We are in so much trouble.

OMG! He’s sucked our precious bodily fluids out while we were asleep. Boy, when everyone wakes up, there’s going to be some seriously ticked off people.
