I had the same reaction
This is some of what Barry Goldwater said about gays a while back (maybe we should declare him a “LIBERAL”)

I served in the armed forces. I have flown more than 150 of the best fighter planes and bombers this country manufactured. I founded the Arizona National Guard. I chaired the Senate Armed Services Committee. And I think it’s high time to pull the curtains on this charade of policy.(Gays in the Military)
What should undermine our readiness would be a compromise policy like “Don’t ask, don’t tell.” That compromise doesn’t deal with the issue - it tries to hide it.
We have wasted enough precious time, money and talent trying to persecute and pretend. It’s time to stop burying our heads in the sand and denying reality for the sake of politics. It’s time to deal with this straight on and be done with it. It’s time to get on with more important business.
The conservative movement, to which I subscribe, has as one of its basic tenets the belief that government should stay out of people’s private lives. Government governs best when it governs least - and stays out of the impossible task of legislating morality. But legislating someone’s version of morality is exactly what we do by perpetuating discrimination against gays.
When you get down to it, no American able to serve should be allowed, much less given an excuse, not to serve his or her country. We need all our talent.
If I were in the Senate today, I would rise on the Senate floor in support of our commander in chief. He may be a Democrat, but he happens to be right on this question.
(Arizona Republican Barry M. Goldwater retired from the Senate in 1987)
yahoo news source, and very similar to past reports and interviews which could be where the quotes came from
glaring at Elizabeth.
Marginalize, mock, demonize, isolate, ridicule, gang-up against, personal attacks - these tactics are routine for bank-owned socialist media and unfortunately they almost always pay dividends.
Not easy to stand up against the world. Not everyone is cut out for it.
She lasted a long time - very admireable.
That is one great about Governor Sarah Palin - she has such low view of Liberal Commie Scum, that all their hatorade doesn’t phase her one bit, and that is why they hate her and fear her even more.
Another guy who never relents is Pat Buchanan or Ron Paul. People can hate all they want on them, but they never say anhything to please their opponents.
They need to get a Laura Ingraham or Michelle Bachman type there. Some who can really handle themselves. Never happen. I like Elisabeth, but she gets flustered easily. I guess she gets credit for taking out Rosie O.
Why watch it? I don't, never seen one episode. I do see references to it from time to time (such as this one) on FR.
She also said that government has a responsibility to help provide daycare to single mothers. It goes on and on.
I understand how it could be a virtually untenable position to be against gay marriage in Manhattan, working in an industry that is OVERWHELMED with homosexuals - look at the Barry Mannilow controversy she was in the middle of. It's not surprising she eventually capitulated on that topic. BUT, if you're going to cave on that issue, you can't continue to cave to leftists on EVERY OTHER ISSUE too, and expect to have any cache left.
People who portray themselves as the panel "conservative" can't think what she thinks, and still be the panel conservative - except on ABC, of course.
Understatement of this youthful millennium.
Her brain is beginning to show signs of rot. Get out of there quick girl! You are becoming dumber by the day!
Heh, well I think I was trying to be uncharacteristically kind for some unknown reason.
It never seemed to me that she possessed the spine necessary to be a conservative. Seems like she doesn’t want to be picked on by the other girls any more.
I don't see it.
You've missed modern American TV at its best. Like...
And...
Everyone is so quick to throw someone away over a quote on one issue.
That is making me crack up BIG TIME!
I knew the resemblance was striking!
If it were not for the fact that some number of women watch this show each weekday and use it as a voting guide, I’d have to say, “Who gives a crap?”
Blonds should probably have someone vote for them.
If she supports 'gay marriage' and is 'torn' over abortion-on-demand, then she has abandoned any pretense of being a conservative, so what is the point of her being on that show when she is in agreement with some of the most sacred tenets of liberal politics? This is why so many conservatives admire Sarah Palin, she is consistent and doesn't try to please everyone or pretend to be something she's not.
So, Elisabeth Hasselbeck gets her wish: she isn't considered 'a conservative' - if she ever really was. I'm so glad I've never watched 'The View', which is really, 'The Liberal View'.
One more blond airhead bites the dust.
