While President Barack Obama was forcefully endorsing the Ground Zero Mosque, Michelle Obama was paying homage with her presence to the Great Mosque at Granada, which overlooks what was once Islams most important outpost in Europe, the Alhambra palace in Granada.
There is no doubt about the influence of the Great Mosque of Granada overlooking Alhambra. One Spanish guidebook states that the Alhambra is to Granada what St.Peters is to Rome or St. Marks Square to Venice.

A First Lady pays homage to Muslim conquest. Did you ever think you would live to see it.
Well my, my, my
Mosquappalozza?.......
Was she appropriately veiled?
I just want to know what parts of the Mosque she entered and based on that, how was she given rights they don’t normally afford women in terms of what areas they can go into?
What a surprise!
When the founding fathers thought of America, their little baby, the last thing they wanted was an invasive force to stifle, smother it, and then overwhelm it and kill it.
Most people do not recognize that what happens in a mosque is sedition. Pure and simple. Islam is not just a religion, it is a cult. Larger than that though, it is a political system, it is its own government, a economic system (which includes funding new mosque construction), its judicial...all wrapped up in the word sharia. This is inclusive of its military (jihadis) all rolled into one with one intent ...and that is to rule wherever they take root. It is a invasive, systemic infection looking to take over the host once it has quantum.
This is not just a religion, but something that cloaks itself in those terms so it should not be given the same treatment contemplated under the first amendment. The Korans Sharia rules are to consume whatever government there is wherever it goes.
Islam is political, and its goal is to supplant and replace. Globally.
When the founding fathers thought of America, their little baby, the last thing they wanted was an invasive force to stifle, smother it, and then overwhelm it and kill it.
The sooner America learns this , the better. Some know and many do not, but it is a threat to everything America knows.
Obama? Obama and Company? Should be tried for treason in this issue for promoting the establishment of a foreign government on our soils. He is doing nothing to protect America as per his oath. Also, as a Muslim, he knows this, he know far better, he knows sharia, but is looking to deceive America.

Sharia is contrary to rights , freedom , liberty and democracy.
Imam Obama’s wife sure isn’t helping kill the controversy.
First, a visit to the Alhambra is appropriate regardless of faith. It’s one of the great historic sites of the world.
I also have no objection to viewing it from a favorable vantage point, whether or not it’s a mosque.
But if there was something unusual beyond this, I’m interested.
Five hundred years after being hounded out by the Roman Catholic monarchs Isabel and Ferdinand, Spains Muslims have built a mosque overlooking what was once Islams most important outpost in Europe, the Alhambra palace in Granada.
The call to prayer of the muezzin can now be heard in the narrow streets and alleyways of Albaicin, the citys old Moorish district, as a new generation of Spanish converts which is growing in numbers and confidence gives the city back a small part of its ancient Islamic heart.
When we stand in the garden and look out at the Alhambra, we tell people that what they see is not something built by Arabs but by the people of Granada by their own forebears, who were Muslims and spoke Arabic, said Malik Ruiz, a local engineer who is the president of the mosque.
There was nothing coincidental about the choice of the site. It is at the highest point of Albaicin, whose steep, twisting alleyways boasted 27 mosques before the Moorish king Boabdil was forced out of Granada as the Christian reconquista triumphed in 1492. Bloody persecution of the citys Muslims followed and the mosques were burned down or turned into churches.
The appearance of the pounds 2.8m mosque, financed by donations from the United Arab Emirates, coincides with an increasing awareness in the city of the importance, and commercial value, of its Islamic past.
Gift shops selling local pottery, winged cherubs and statues of the Virgin Mary are giving way to boutiques full of ironwork, leather lampshades and teapots identical to those found in the souks of northern Morocco.
Yet building a mosque in this conservative provincial city has not been easy. It took 22 years to overcome objections from neighbours.
Moros fuera , Moors out, read the graffiti on a wall in Albaicin, once one of the citys poorer districts but now going rapidly up-market.
The dream of a return to al-Andalus, the Moorish province in Iberia, has lived on for centuries in Islamic poetry. The new wave of converts, however, has arrived not from the south but the north.
The first Spanish converts to arrive in the 1970s had embraced Islam while living in London and had Ian Dallas, a controversial Scottish convert, now in his 60s, as their figurehead.
A local journalist, Tomas Navarro, claims the mosque is run by a cult-like sect: Traditional Arab Muslims steer clear of it.
Mr Ruiz strongly denies the claims and is threatening to take Mr Navarro to court. The mosque welcomed all Muslims, he said, and had declined offers of money from some Arab countries in order to hold on to its independence.
This is a place where you are free to say what you want, he said.
An imam was brought from a desert area of southern Morocco partly because he was free of the influences that spawned groups such as al- Qaida, he added. Islam condemns violence.

Many years ago, long before 9/11, I toured a mosque in Istanbul. As I recall, we tourists were allowed into the main worship area. We did have to remove our shoes and bare shoulders had to be covered (they issued what looked like those paper gowns you get in the doctor’s office). Otherwise, I don’t recall any restrictions.
Since there are different Muslim sects and given the way things are after 9/11, there may be different rules regarding tours by us infidels.
Built in 2003, the Great Mosque in Granada, like the mosque planned in the shadow of Ground Zero, was born in controversy.
The land on which the mosque has been built was bought 22 years ago, but city authorities continually objected to the planning proposals. (Victory News Magazine, July 17, 2003). When it was finally accepted that the land could be used for religious purposes, objections were raised to the layout of the building. Planners had to rethink the height and design of the buildings minaret but opposition to the scheme, which received financial backing from Libya, the United Arab Emirates and Morocco, gradually subsided.
Back in 2004, the mayor, a member of Spains ruling right-wing party, attended the inauguration.
The King of Spain was also offered an invitation but prior engagements meant he was unable to accept, wrote Victory News Magazine.
On inauguration day, a muezzin called Spanish Muslims to prayer at the first mosque to be opened in Granada since the 1492 reconquista, the culmination of a 22-year project.
For those who built the Great Mosque of Granada, which looks out onto the Alhambra Palace, its inauguration, attended by a string of Muslim and non-Muslim dignitaries, heralds a new dawn for the faith in Europe.
The mosque is a symbol of a return to Islam among the Spanish people and among indigenous Europeans that will break with the malicious concept of Islam as a foreign and immigrant religion in Europe, says Abdel Haqq Salaberria, a spokesman for the mosque and convert to Islam.
It will act as a vocal point for the Islamic revival in Europe.

There are mosques in Granada but there is no "Great Mosque of Granada" the way there is a Great Mosque of Cordoba.
The Alhambra does not have the same relationship to Granada that St. Peter's does to Rome or St. Mark's to Venice. The Cathedral of the Incarnation (founded by and holding the remains of the great Ferdinand and Isabella) in Granada is the equivalent.
The Alhambra is not a place of worship: it is a royal/governmental complex of buildings.
It would be pretty significant if she visited one of the newly-built mosques in Spain.
It's not very significant if she visited the Great Mosque of Cordoba or the Alhambra, since these are ancient and two of the biggest tourist attractions in Spain that everyone visits.
The Great Mosque of Córdoba, Spain, begun 786 by Muslims (who tookover St Vincent's Church). But in 1238, the Cordoba Mosque was converted into Roman Catholic cathedral. The Catholic Cathedral is known locally as La Mezquita The Mosque.
Aerial view of the Great Mosque of Córdoba, Spain, begun 786, doubled in area in the 10th century to 585 x 410 feet, with 1,200 columns supporting horseshoe arches, patterned with colored marbles and other stones. Although it was converted into Córdoba's Roman Catholic cathedral in 1238, the building is known locally as La Mezquita The Mosque. Clearly, when he gave his build-the-mosque speech (from the WH) Ohaha's articulated words and his voice inflections, were archly crafted. Ohaha knew full well that he was throwing a megaton bomb into the American culture......and he was not in the least concerned.
Ohaha knows full well that building the Ground Zero mosque is another version of "Triumphalism".....brough to you from another group of hyphenates bent on mischief. Latinos are itching for Reconquista. The mosquevites are looking to impose Sharia law on the US.
All of us are sick and tired of these foreign-born "hyphenates" sticking it to Americans. Americans know all the world wants to live like we do---even our poorest live handsomely compared to some of these backwater Third World hellholes. Now instead of blending into the US melting pot, the hyphenates want to radically change our culture---they want us to be like them.
That ain't gonna happen.

Good one! Moochelle is one person who could vastly benefit from a burka. Hers would have to be tailored to make it sleeveless to show off “her toned arms” while concealing the shoulders of a linebacker. We won’t even get into hips. Don’tcha resent her visiting the Mosque under cover of darkness...since it’s such a historical site why couldn’t it just be a stated part of her itinerary? Of course, lots goes on under cover of darkness in this administration.
Visiting a popular tourist attraction with a rich history is hardly “paying homage to Islam.”
