Fresh off his vacation, MSNBC's Pat Buchanan came out swinging Tuesday on "Morning Joe," calling former House Speaker Newt Gingrich a "political opportunist" for his comments about the proposed mosque in New York City.
On Monday, Gingrich compared the building of a proposed mosque near Ground Zero to Nazis putting up "a sign next to the Holocaust Museum" or "the Japanese putting up a site next to Pearl Harbor."
Buchanan argued that Gingrich's controversial comments were meant to position him to the right of his potential GOP primary opponent, Sarah Palin, on the issue.

I agree, unless he gets into the race to try to embarrass Sarah with his intellect and professorship. Newt is a walking, talking, policy wonk, but he comes across “preachy and arrogant.” I am confident that she can handle him and although it will make for good entertainment, it will also give the lame stream plenty to write about.

He’s a good back bencher and policy wonk. I don’t know which position in Sarah’s administration would best suit him.

Probably the one at the horse race. What can I say, I’m a guy.
Although the one up in Alaska where she’s in the coat and leaning on the piper jet, is just too great too.
And the one from the Michigan book signing in the snow, where she is wearing the hat is also top 5

And what was Newt doing sitting down along side of Nancy Pelousy...do you remember that picture of them? Can't remember why. And they were both smiling. Hmmmm.

No question about Newt being a political opportunist who seems to be positioning himself for a run in the 2012 election. He's been all over the map about Sarah, with comments ranging from Sarah will not be the future GOP leader to references to not being ready to defend her, yet still noting that Governor Palin in Alaska may be the most aggressive reformer in the country.
Newt's politics have been all over the map too, from supporting liberal causes like global warming and endorsing Dede Scozzafava instead of endorsing Doug Hoffman in NY23. And don't forget that his personal life is a mess.
Newt is right in criticizing the building of the mosque in NYC, and God knows we need as much support as possible, but as with many things when it comes to Newt we never know which side he is really on. Newt has demonstrated that he is not really loyal to conservative positions all the time.

TY, I think I have all of your favorites! I will check my "files." This will have to do for now. :)

Wow, thank you, Victoria. I hadn’t realized he’d made all those comments about Sarah! He sure likes to run his mouth.
He often has good ideas and he’s a policy wonk. I like him best as a back bencher, but I think he still has political ambitions of his own, even though he’s only won elected office from a district in Georgia, he was elected Speaker of the House by his colleagues.

I'm glad I checked out FR before going to bed. You are right about Newt, Onyx. He sometimes talks too much, though he had his good years in politics. However, he's been unreliable lately - changing positions, so I wouldn't trust him.
Have a great day tomorrow, see you then.
To: Victoria Delsoul
Tou too, dear Victoria. Thank you for your insights and information. Newt can’t be trusted. You’re so right about him.

I prefer to think Newt finally found God and happiness and is now at peace with himself. I’d like to think he’s had a real change of heart.

newt is a historian... trained and educated... and he is not smart... if he were... he would not have made the many poor decisions that have destroyed his political career and his personal life.
