I’m not from FL, but I still have a question. Rubio is pro life. Are you?

Question,

Rubio has a LOT of fans here, and if it weren’t for one gaffe statement that the media has blown out of proportion (that he thinks Arizona should not have needed to pass the immigration law being spun to say he opposed it) his support would be overwhelming.

What can you bring to the table that can set yourself apart from Rubio in order to garner enough attention to actually beat the competition instead of simply splitting the Conservative votes and handing it to Crist?

Welcome aboard.

Warning: Free Republic can be addictive. Please make sure any of your staffers assigned to read the site to "pick up on the pulse of the grass roots" are aware of this.

Also, feel free to make use of the collected wisdom of the site in the spirit of the book The Wisdom of Crowds.

We tend to sift through false claims *very* quickly.

Cheers!

Dr. Bill ...

My advice is to avoid the formulaic campaign in this election cycle. Cut out all the nebulous 'for the children' language and talk about specific problems and issues that the country is facing right now.

Also, rather than join your adversary in negative campaigning you'll do much better if you can transcend the negativity - brush it firmly aside - and instead take any opportunities to, once again, address today's serious challenges.

A week ago, David pinged me to one of his threads about you, and we had some exchanges about you, your website, and your candidacy. I threw out a bunch of questions and suggestions, and I'll touch a couple of them here. I made these comments about you, so your being here lets me own them directly to you.

From your bio, you've been a citizen of four nations. Did I understand that correctly? How does your having been a citizen of four nations make you more or less qualified to be a United States senator? If having been a citizen of four nations makes you less qualified, how will you make up for that lack?

I couldn't understand from your bio exactly how much of your time in the United States has been in Florida. How many years have you been a Florida resident? How many years have you been a resident of other US states? Which ones? Again, how does being a citizen of other states make you more or less qualified to be a United States senator from Florida? If less qualified, how will you make up for that lack?

What led you to get a law degree? While the doctor/lawyer combination is not unheard of, that combination is different. I think people would be interested in know why you made that choice, particularly later in life, and how that choice will impact your work as a senator.

I'm not a Florida resident, so you don't really have to address personal concerns of mine. However, I throw up one concern to all politicians I meet. The reptile pet industry in the United States is worth millions of dollars at the very least and some estimates are at a billion dollars. This includes the animals themselves, food and supplies, cages, transportation costs for shipping, hotel revenue for reptile shows, and other economic activity. While this winter's freezes killed most of the pythons and boas in Florida, I understand that southern Florida has a problem with some feral reptiles. There is no credible evidence that any place outside of southern Florida would have those problems. In spite of that, some Florida politicians working with animal rights extremists like PETA and HSUS are trying to destroy the hobby entirely by putting many snakes and other animals on the Lacey Act. Bill Nelson has been a big part of this effort. If you were elected, would you be willing to stand against this wrongful federal attack of an entire hobby?

In addition to the financial consequences of this attack, there are obvious personal consequences to those of us who own these animals.

Good luck,

Bill

UPDATE FROM THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL (FreeRepublic EXCLUSIVE !)

I Had 2238 hits on my site yesterday! A record for my campaign! Many thanks to the FReepers who are following my campaign which undoubtedly contributed to this total.

Today we attended an invigorating Christian Conservative event hosted by The Christian Chamber of Apopka, FL and arranged by Chairman Mark Goldstein. It was held in Orlando in the late PM and we arrived to a warm welcome and an absolute Hubbub of patriotic activity around 6 PM. As usual my wife Les set up the best looking table in the room in under five minutes! (She has become very proficient at this!) We Hob-Nobbed for a couple of hours, handed out our literature, chatted with voters & were very positively received. As usual we were accompanied by Tom Jefferson, The Genius of Liberty (pictured below I am holding his book in my hand) AND "Ollie" our GOP Elephant.

Between eight and nine PM I and other candidates mounted the stage and answered a series of of questions. Folks applauded and agreed with my answers. Later the Chairman actually hugged me as he pledged his vote. Many other folks came by our table upon exit to congratulate our Campaign and promise to vote for my candidacy. We were invited by "Momentum Radio" to an interview on their morning show.

Marco Rubio did not show or have anyone speak for him. I chatted with one of his assistants toward the end and bet him that if I lose the Primary, Marco and I will be confronting each other again in 2012 - since there is no way Marco has what it takes to win against Charlie Crist! I bet the guy 5 bucks on the wager (which he accepted) AND sent ANOTHER challenge to for Marco to come out of hiding and debate me!

Thanks,
Bill

Question for the candidate.

In the late 80s, as you know there was a major problem with malpractice insurance prices. You led the charge to try to fix this, however, per reports at the time, you were encouraging doctors to walk out of emergency rooms leaving patients untreated. Do you still feel this was the best course of action to tackle this problem?

Bill, thanks for having the guts to come on FR and advocate for what you believe.

And thanks for sitting in our AIP America’s Summit hot seat and taking questions last week. Click on my screen name, which will take you to my homepage, and you’ll know who I am. :-)

UPDATE FROM THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL: 10 August 2010

We visited the Good Samaritan Village in Kissimmee, FL.

This is a delightful 425 acre, gated retirement community just south of Orlando on a golf course. It is run with great precision by The Lutherans & includes a Nondenominational Church. (I’d even like to retire there myself! Maybe I could work part-time in the medical Clinic?)

As the photos indicate we arrived safely and were welcomed by Hob-Nob Organizer George Weber. The "Ambience" was a little different since this was not an exclusively Republican event. A couple folks were highly supportive of Obama AND Obama-Care, but obviously didn’t know what it entailed. Even more dems confided that they were fed-up and have had enough of "Change You Can’t Believe A Word Of" that they may vote for me in the general election if my fellow Republicans support me in the PRIMARY. Yet another, confirmation to me that I will be able to defeat BOTH Crist and the DEM Nominee.

Les decorated our table with her usual elegance and we had six minutes to talk from the stage. We met numerous enthusiastic voters before and after our speech, handed out a ton of literature (EVERYONE wants the "Citizen Rulebook" with founding documents! One lady is even going to put them ALL OVER THE LAUNDRY ROOM!) I wonder if Tom Jefferson could have anticipated that folks would read all about him while sitting beside The Maytag?

As usual, no Marco.

Bill.

Be measured in your responses on the website. Your opponent will surely be watching, ready to quote out-of-context.
