GM to build $500 million plant in Mexico

It's just one hypocrisy after another from Barack Obama. The president sold the taxpayer bailout of General Motors by telling us that it was needed to save jobs. Obviously it doesn't mean American jobs because Government Motors has decided to spend half a billion, taxpayer dollars, to build a new plant in Mexico.

In my opinion the company shouldn't be allowed any capital expansion, especially outside the United States, before it fulfills its obligation to the taxpayers of America. Until their debt is paid, they are spending our money to construct a plant in a country that is contributing to the collapse of America. I guess cheap labor trumps being loyal to your country; right Mr. President?

Then there’s GM rolling out their $41,000.00 golf cart, the Chevy Volt. If this company wasn't owned by the government, there is no way that they would launch a new car that only has a 40 mile range. Who is going to buy the Volt when they can buy a Nissan Leaf that has 500% more range, and costs $10,000.00 less? And it gets better; the American taxpayer is going to subsidize every purchase of this horrendous excuse of an automobile to the tune of $7,500.00 per car.

To top it all off; the president continued his summer self aggrandizing summer of love tour. This time he was trying to sell Ford employees that even though their company didn't need a bailout; that they benefited from the government takeover of General Motors. I don’t know how he stands in front of his teleprompter with a straight face when he’s telling jokes this funny.

Have a great weekend…

Todd

This should be illegal, if tax payer money is used then the borrowed Chinese money should only be spent in the US.

I made that pledge right after the bailout. Traded my GMC pickup and bought a new Ford F-150. And I will never buy another Government Motors vehicle as long as I live.

40 miles won’t get me to work to pay for the golfcart. As I’ve said countless times before, this household will never buy another GM product.

Thank you for posting.

I gave a copy of the WSJ story on this to my US Congressman Pete Olson at yesterday's Townhall!

The UAW bosses must have gotten a bigtime payoff to allow this ripoff of it's idiot members.

Is there a stupider creature than the UAW member who was clapping like a trained seal for this pathetic president...right before his job is sent to Mexico?
Union members should not be allowed to vote because they are imbeciles.

I had a call from GM about a job (some sort of safety engineering thing). I didn’t even bother calling them back.

Years ago I used to say GM (I’m sure other people did too) “GM is a health care company that happens to make cars.”

The UAW has no one to blame but themselves. There is no justification for the wage structure and benefits which they feel entitled to. Spending millions of dollars of membership dues on politics should be outlawed. That goes for all unions.

I don't have much respect for union employees who pay a union boss to speak & negotiate on their behaf.

I feel I am personally responsible for my own welfare and work-place negotiations.

Hasn't been for a very long time. No incentive to change anything either. Why would they, when taxpayers ensure they keep those wages and benefits? The UAW and it's members are now just supremely expensive welfare recipients. And they receive those benefits ONLY because they are democrats. It makes me angry when I think about it.

Our tax dollars (and our children and grand children’s debt burden) at work. Already, we are realizing a return on the $30 billion ‘investment’ of government funds in GM.

I would not sit my azz in a GM vehicle if it was free.
Anyone who buys one is the enemy of all Americans.
