Here's a letter from five GOP senators to HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius demanding answers. An excerpt:
We are writing to express our profound concern regarding the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) television ad campaign touting the benefits of the new health care law for seniors. According to press reports, the ad campaign cost taxpayers $700,000.
We request that you cease the ad campaign immediately and reimburse the U.S. Treasury for any expenditure of taxpayer funds related to this effort. We also request you provide documentation outlining which HHS account these funds came from.
We believe this ad is a clear violation of the spirit of federal laws that prohibit the use of taxpayer dollars for campaign purposes. The justification for this ad, as expressed by Stephanie Cutter, an Assistant to the President, demonstrates the clear political motivation for the ad.

Let the show trials begin !
Aunt Bee needs to take Andy and Opie to the wood shed..
Gee Andy looks like you could use a trim
Good cracker......
I’ve seen the ad and it’s pretty damned pathetic. This old guy is barely able to hang a sentence together and probably has little, if any, notion of what he’s saying. This administration is, day-by-day, proving what a bunch of soulless rogues they are. They should be ashamed of themselves, but shame seems to be a rare commodity in their “1984” world of horrors.
Reimburse the treasury out of what funds? Out of other government funds?

HHS Funds.
As a sidebar, I tossed my “Andy Griffith Show” season-set dvd’s in the dumpster the other day. An all-time great series, and it provided me with decades of entertainment... but after Andy’s repellent shilling for Obamacare, I just don’t want to ever see his face on my tv-screen again. The mere thought turns my stomach. The commie bastard.
Has anyone checked to see if Barney Fyfe is opposed to Obamacare?
Deputy Fife should have used his bullet when he had the chance.
You gotta nip it in the bud.
White House's Medicare Videos Are Ruled Illegal

WASHINGTON, May 19 - The General Accounting Office, an investigative arm of Congress, said on Wednesday that the Bush administration had violated federal law by producing and disseminating television news segments that portray the new Medicare law as a boon to the elderly.
-Big SNIP-
Federal law prohibits the use of federal money for "publicity or propaganda purposes" not authorized by Congress. The accounting office has found that federal agencies violated this restriction when they disseminated editorials and newspaper articles written by the government without identifying the source.
The accounting office said the administration's misuse of federal money "also constitutes a violation of the Antideficiency Act," which prohibits spending in excess of appropriations. Under the law, the secretary of health and human services, Tommy G. Thompson, must report the violation to Congress and the president, with "a statement of actions taken" to prevent a recurrence.

This is somewhat out of context, because the Times must be excerpted.
“Tick a lock, Ange. Tick a lock!”
Even tho he ran on giving out more goodies (prescription drug help) in 2000....we encouraged him not to go there...no more entitlements...no more efforts to paint Republicans as compassionate to get good press.
And I will also remind you that the press did NOT give Pres Bush high marks for his compassion...they simple reported on all the money he and the Congress spent on this Medicare Bill. And they actually reported what was IN the bill of course.
Too bad they don't do the same with their guy in office.
They are corrupt to the core.
I made my point badly - I was directing my comment to “all y’all”, not you personally; and I was simply trying to point out the huge hypocrisy of the press in the way they treated Bush in a similar situation to how they treat “one of their own”.

Your post was fine Maryland...upon re-reading mine I was too curt..sorry!
I have been doing that more lately..must be my Obama mood.
Interesting choice of ‘spokesman’. Guess they are trying to win over Southern, country, redneck, good-ol-boys/girls, who are bitter clingers. Good luck with that, you clueless, ethically-challenged WH lackeys.
