Supporters claim the addition of Muslim holidays to the New York City school system calendar would “send a positive message to the Muslim community that you are welcome here,” but the Big Apple’s Mayor Michael Bloomberg is no fan of the plan.
Bloomberg claims the school children already take too much time off, and points to statistics that only four of 10 students in the system graduate on time. Muslim enrollment in the New York City schools has risen to 12 percent, or 100-thousand students, and religious leaders there are demanding five more days off over the next decade. Having failed to convince the mayor, they have called an end run, hoping to convince lawmakers in Albany to take up the measure and make it a law statewide.
This could be an ominous sign of harsh Sharia Musim law coming to America.

Time to demand unfettered school choice. Those who were worried about Christianity being paid for by tax dollars are now paying for Islamic studies, foot baths, prayer rooms, and celebrations anyway!

The muslims actually have holidays to celebrate unlike the Blacks who had to make one up from thin air.
Yeah, perhaps NY should declare every day a holiday so that there are no more days of public schools. Everyone then might have to be home schooled or Christian schooled and patriotism and moral sanity might return again to the United States of America.

Does the entire system get more days off? I think eventually we will have some federal days off from the Muslim Holiday. I want the month of Ramadan off...can you imagine?? lol.

I suggest finding every obscure religious denomination out there and **demand** that their holidays be recognized as well.
The left (including Blomberg) won’t be happy until Christmas is a work day and school day just like every other day.
