Our hummingbirds have been plentiful and active and so the other day I decided to shoot a few. With the digital camera, of course. In order to get in close enough, I used a non-digital 75-150 mm zoom lens from my 35mm kit, which limited the camera to manual controls and gave very little depth-of-field, so these aren't the greatest images, but they are genuine hummer shots.

Great job! A little hummer never hurt anyone!
Hummers are cool.
Not at all what I was expecting, tho.
Great title, I’m all for it.
Humbug! It’s a bird thread.
Baseball pics, perhaps . . . a few fastballs?
I think hummingbirds are great. In NM we have tons of them.
Right now the Rufous are chasing the black chinned and broad tails away from the feeders.
Also have seen Annas and Caliopes on occasion.
When it’s time to migrate, we can have as many as 40 around the feeders tanking up.

It is difficult to “capture” the feeling and the actual sight of a hummingbird, and for your attempts I salute you!
Living in Ohio we seem to have more than one “type” here.
Sometimes you see them in your peripheral vision, and you would think it is a large bumblebee or some type of flying bug.
Other times you can tell they are a bird, and a blurry one at that to mine old eyes.
Keep up the good photo work, nonetheless!
Awesome! Thx!
Hi Jay, I enjoy your blog and the hummers are beautiful. It’s always nice to see nature in all it’s glory.
