What Dems might switch parties after GOP electoral gains this November?
one man's opinion...

Posted on 07/26/2010 11:51:20 AM PDT by ken5050

As we get closer to the November election, there is endless continual speculation/polling as to the odds of the GOP taking control of one of both houses of Congress. We can make two logical assumptions. The GOP WILL make substantial gains, and the GOP caucus in both the House and the Senate will be more conservative. However, there has been next to no discussion of the possibility that one or more House Dems might cross the aisle after the November vote.

It's a good opinion you have...but just an opinion.

We're just gonna have to wait for the Nov. 5th, 2010 mid-term elections and their aftermath to see if your opinion (or mine) is validated, aren't we?

As to ranting...I certainly try not to.

The way the GOP’s been going over the past 20 years, I’d say it’s we conservatives who are the RINOs.

Boucher doesn’t even know how to pronounce his name. He’s a Democrat.

Unless they crossed over to vote against Porkulus / Obama Care / Kagan etc.

F 'em, they're not welcome.

The time to grow a pair of balls is when sticking to your principles costs you something, not when you're scurrying down the rope of a sinking ship to trying to save your ass.

I’m assuming that any who would consider switching would have voted against those bills..

Funny!

the question is do we want them?

Look what happened to Billy Tauzin, he ended selling us all out on "K" Street as of late.

Eliminate "K" Street via a flat tax, we will deal with D or R later. We need men and women of good will not all the weasels we have now...

Party switchers to the GOP should be welcomed. Remember Ronald Reagan once was a liberal Democrat (by his own description).

"Heath Shuler NC"

No, fortunately he envisions himself as the next John Edwards. More power to him.

I wish former Social Democrats could be banned from the Republican Party for a set number of years after leaving the Social Democrat Party. What Republicans don’t need is a flood of new Socialists. There are too many Republican quasi socialists already.

I would rather the Republicans have a large Senate minority- say 47 or 48- and Snow and Collins and McCain(if he is still there) switched to be Social Democrats. Republicans do their best work when in minority. As a majority they don’t feel they have any principles to prove and they set about the serious business of grabbing as much goodies as they can. As for repealing Obamacare, it won’t happen, even with vetoproof majorities in both houses. The Republicans will never vote to cause government employees to lose their jobs and the Kenyan has been hiring hordes of new bureaucrats to staff the IRS’s new mandates and the Obamacare bureaucracy.

Zell was okay.

I was thinking more along the lines of Olympia Snowe or Susan Collins' types whom we can't depend!

Don’t hold your breath. I don’t think the GOP will blow out anyone this fall.

McCain is gaining strength in AZ. Yes, that makes AZ a lock for the GOP, and a loss for conservatives. Angle isn’t doing well in Nevada. The dems have lots of money and union support. Anyone who thinks they are going to fall out in droves is deluding themselves. It will be a tough fight, and I’ll be shocked if we regain control of anything.

Given the weenie candidates we have, what difference would it make?

First, there is absolutely no proof whatsoever that there will be a change in either the House or Senate putting the rinos in a majority. The anger and/or hope upon which this assumption is based has cooled remarkably in the last few months....and continues to decline.

Really?

There is absolutely no polling data to support your assertion.

The GOP continues to lead the generic ballot. The number of endangered Democrats continues to grow.

The number of people who favor repeal of Obamacare continues to expand.

Obama's approval rating continues to go down the toilet.

With all due respect, there isn't much "logic" -- or "reason" -- to your contention.

Whether or not the GOP will regain control of either House or Senate remains an unknown. But the tide of public opinion is definitely flowing in their direction.
