Yeah, I also think they are spinning, too.
I know several DPS troopers and other law enforcement in Texas and they tell me that “diversity” is a big push. It used to be the usual “how-good-are-you-and-who-do-you-know” that got you in, but now diversity gets a vote.

I seem to remember way back when, the requirements to be a Florida State Trooper used to be six foot one inch and a solid 180 pounds before any other requirement aside from a squeaky clean record and military was always the deciding factor. I'll bet the Rangers had something similar. I also remember the first diversity requirement to fall was the one for gender. I started seeing smallish blondes with enormous .... 357 magnums (bet you thought I was going to say something else, huh?) on their hips. I'll bet it was the same way with the Texas Rangers, too. Btw, are the Arizona Rangers still in existence? Does anybody know?
