Well, now, that brings a huge DUH.

Ranches are usually NOT within city limits. At least not where I am familiar with. Or, I've just now made a fool of myself.

Did you miss 0bama’s Green Farming and Ranching Initiative? In order to cut down on CO2 emissions all farms and ranches are ordered to move into towns and cities reducing shipping distances. Since far fewer cattle can be raised on concrete and asphalt the resulting reduction in methane is another positive side effect for the environment.

I called several different businesses in the Laredo area. None were very willing to discuss the situation there, but one person told me things are getting much worse across the river than is being reported. No one knew or refused to acknowledge any news of ranches being taken. One store closest to the area went silent as soon as I asked about the ranches and disconnected moments later.

I think we've already lost Laredo...
