The world is preparing to face the end of Mubaraks Egypt. Radio Voice of America reports:
A government spokesman this week tried to downplay a report in the Washington Times newspaper that Western intelligence agencies are tracking Mr. Mubarak's decline since surgery in Germany earlier this year. The government says the president is recovering from gall bladder disease, but the Times report, along with independent media reports in Egypt, suggest his illness is more grave.Vice President Joe Biden met with Egyptian President in Sharm El Sheikh on June 7, 2010. On the official White House Photo by David Lienemann we see Hosni Mubarak with visibly pale, lacking of tonus and with signs of weight loss.
You can compare with a photo of Mubaraks visit in the Oval Office of the White House, August 18, 2009. Official White House Photo by Pete Souza.
However Karim Haggag, Director of Egyptian Press and Information Office insists the rumors are false in open letter to Washington Times:
The interest in Mr. Mubarak's health by the media is understandable given Egypt's geopolitical weight and Mr. Mubarak's role as a force for stability in the Middle East. However, the media reports published on Mr. Mubarak's health are based on nothing more than rumor and speculation and have no factual basis. During his hospital stay in Germany, Mr. Mubarak's medical team was diligent about providing daily updates on the president's condition.Friends and enemies of the Middle East peace dream are arming to fight over influence in the future Egypt after Mubarak days. They sense this future is coming closer as the 82-years-old leader is trying to stay in control.Hopefully, future reporting on this delicate issue will be handled with greater care and rely on facts rather than mere speculation.
Islamic brotherhood takes over, and closes the Canal....the plot for Tom Vlancy’s next book..
This is the new Halloween movie scenario.
I would love to know the total of ALL aid, military and humanitarian, we’ve given to Egypt since, say 1950..
USAID should have the official stats - however - there is probably more than what’s official.
It was hard to imagine after Mubarak took over after Sadat’s assassination, that he would have been in power for so long.
He trained in the USSR airforce - he learned how to stay in power until your aids have to wave your hand.
One by one, until Israel stands alone.... then the Rapture.
