Will CNN Pledge to Fire "JOURNOLIST" Participants?
Vanity

Posted on 07/20/2010 12:02:42 PM PDT by Brookhaven

CNN has been marketing themselves as the "unbiased, neither left or right" news network. Yet, you have this quote from the Hotair story about the JOURNOLIST listsrv:

"Update: But was the campaign effective? Ed Driscoll put together a video showing the correlation of this effort on Journolist and the declaration by CNN that it would be a “Wright-free zone.” Correlation isn’t causation, but this is a pretty interesting juxtaposition."

It is clear that CNN was influenced by the JOURNOLIST effort, but you don't get this kind of results without someone on the inside (working for CNN) actively participating. So here is the big question for CNN: is it a news organization, or a propaganda organization?

If CNN is a true news organization, then it must (now) publicly commit to firing anyone that participated in J0URNOLIST, and follow up that promise with actions. If CNN takes any lesser actions, it is admiting that it considers it acceptable for its employees to use CNN as a propaganda tool, becauase that is exactly what the JOURNOLIST is: a propaganda effort.

The choice is CNN's. We should keep asking them this question until we get a definitive answer.

By firing, do you mean promoting?

We need to pick one news organization and start banging on them to make this pledge. CNN is the obvious choice.

It will make the JOURNOLIST story as big as it deserves to be, and it will keep it in the spotlight.

IMO JOURNOLIST are like Klan members. Secret society. Once exposed they should be black listed from ever getting a job just because they kept their membership and agenda secret. Any company who has hired more than one should have their personnel department clean out!

Spencer Ackerman’s remarks were jaw dropping.

In one instance, Spencer Ackerman of the Washington Independent urged his colleagues to deflect attention from Obama’s relationship with Wright by changing the subject. Pick one of Obama’s conservative critics, Ackerman wrote, “Fred Barnes, Karl Rove, who cares — and call them racists.”

Spencer Ackerman, then of the Washington Independent...
“I do not endorse a Popular Front, nor do I think you need to. It’s not necessary to jump to Wright-qua-Wright’s defense. What is necessary is to raise the cost on the right of going after the left. In other words, find a rightwinger’s [sic] and smash it through a plate-glass window. Take a snapshot of the bleeding mess and send it out in a Christmas card to let the right know”

Went to the website of Daily Caller. How reliable is this story? I don’t recognize the Daily Caller or the reporter.

I want to send this out to my circle of friends but hesitate until I’m sure this is grade A reporting.

For years we’ve been complaining that the MSM coverage seem almost orchestrated. The analysis was that there wasn’t any organized effort, but rather the problem was that the MSM news organizations lacked diversity (mostly liberal employees). Now we know different. This wasn’t just bias; it was a deliberate, calculated effort to use the MSM organizatons (such as CNN) as a propaganda machine.

We should establish this as a litmus test for MSM organizations: fire anyone involved with the JOURNOLIST (and regain some legimitate standing as a news organization), or don’t (and forever let yourself be branded as nothing more than a willing participant in propaganda).

News organization or propaganda outlet—which is it?

This is an OPPORTUNITY. An opportunity to expose the left; an opportunity to draw clear lines and find out which side people and organizations are on. We should take advantage of it.

Post this question on blogs. Call talk shows with this question. Get it out on there circulating. Make it an issue. Make it news.

Will CNN commit to firing anyone involved with the JOURNOLIST mailing list?

Honestly, I found the link here and cannot attest to anything about the source.
