There were some people here on FR who wanted it to be true.
The MSM can no longer be trusted to get ANYTHING right

“””There is a lot of public speculation that Bristol and Levi have signed up for a reality show about their relationship. They have not,” Palin’s rep tells Us. “While several networks have pitched different concepts, Bristol has not agreed to participate in any show. Her focus remains on doing what is best for Tripp and her family.”

“”Money certainly talks. Our sources estimate Us Weekly paid $100,000 to Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston for the story on their engagement. The cash not only bought an exclusive interview with the couple, but also screwed competitor People. The single mom gave interviews to both magazines, but didn’t tell People about the engagement or that they’d hidden their reconciliation from Sarah Palin.
Bristol lied to People: “We’re not totally back together, but I’m not ruling it out . . . I don’t want to get into what’s in store for our future because, who knows?” But Us Weekly knew. Bristol hid her left hand in the People photo shoot, though proudly revealed her ring to Us Weekly. An Us Weekly rep said, “We were approached by Bristol and Levi to break the news, and we didn’t pay $100,000.””
Given the nature of our boy Levi, we'll get a reality show whether or not it's broadcast. With him there will always be a story.
So will any Palin haters post this story multiple times from different sources?
No? Didn’t think so.
Well, actually, the New York Post doesn’t usually behave that way. And they are not Sarah bashers. So I was taken in by it. I wouldn’t have put it past Bristol’s former fiance to do something like this. And as I said, if Bristol agreed, you can’t really blame Sarah for it. Not even the best parents can help it if their kids grow up and decide to do something stupid.
I’d still like to see a little more in the way of certainty from a reliable source, but on its face, this looks like good news. I didn’t want to think that Sarah had lost a daughter.
Hmmmmmmmm.......
Don’t feel bad, a lot of people got that information FROM multiple posts on FR.
I’m a little dissappointed at how our side has been so much more willing to believe anything they read these days.
Maybe it has always been this way. But i started noticing it during the 2008 election season, when all the people supporting different candidates were happy to spread any crazy story they could pick up about other candidates.
You’d think after all the “Trig isn’t Palin’s kid” stories that we’d know better, but there isn’t always a lot of critical thinking here.
Just look at all the money-blogs posted as news/activism, or all the stories about the BP well collapsing into a worldwide methane explosion.
It’s remarkable how an unsubstantiated rumor that appears on a web site can somehow get passed along as news in fairly mainstream media outlets.
I suppose it is true that a lie can go around the world before the truth even wakes up in the morning.
The fact is, the dominant media and the folks that are negative about Sarah Palin will jump at the chance to tear her down, and the facts and truth just aren’t important.
I know some folks come down hard on young Bristol Palin. She seems to be a fairly average young woman of her age and experience - she has a disconnect between reality and her self image. But that is unremarkable. What is remarkable is that she is the daughter, and single mom, of a conservative leader. She seems to be maturing and I wish the best for her and her child. If only those who are negative about the Palins would show some class and restraint.
You aren’t the only one. Freepers are willing to dismiss as untruthful much of the news media’s stories and yet jump on other stories as gospel.
But didn’t TMZ have the story first and quote unnamed entertainment industry sources to whom it was being pitched?
What does the engagement of her daughter have to do with Sarah Palin running for president? If a conservative had written anything similar in reference to the Obama children, he would be referred to as a bigot, a racist or, heaven forbid, a tea party activist.
