Wesley J. Smith: Western Australian Euthanasia Bill Defines Dying as 2 Years to Live
First Things/Secondhand Smoke ^ | 7/15/10 | Wesley J. Smith

The euthanasia agenda pretends to be narrow, but in actuality, it is very broad.  We have discussed the evidence of this repeatedly over the years at SHS.

Further proof came today when I was asked whilst here in Perth to review the Western Australia Euthanasia Bill 2010. The bill would legalize doctors killing their terminally ill patients who ask for it.  But the definition of terminal illness is so broad that people who might live decades would qualify.  From the bill:

Terminal illness means a medically diagnosed illness or condition that will, in reasonable medical judgment, in the normal course and wiothout the application of extreme measures [whatever that means], result in the death of the the applicant within 2 years of the date on which the request was made.

Here’s the thing: Doctors usually can’t predict that far out when someone will die.  People expected to live two years, might live ten or twenty.  Heck, they might not expire of the supposedly condition at all.

Here’s another matter I noticed that is ubiquitous in euthanasia/assisted suicide advocacy schemes, but rarely bring up:  The bill  gives a blanket priviledge to doctors from criminal and civil liability for performing euthanasia.  How ironic: A doctor who treats a patient could face liability for failing to meet the standard of care.  The same doctor who killed the patient would not be held to account for any standard of professionalism.  That means the bottom feeders who can’t do anything else could easily be attracted–like Kevorkian–to a killing practice.

The culture of death just wants to kill people, the details are inconsequential.

My father, at the age of 40, was given one year to live. He actually lived another 23 years and died at 63.

Yes. One can easily dream up the first amendment to the bill by such an author clearly in progressive circles:

Amendment: “the 2 year limit shall not exceed the age of 63 for mandatory application at, or prior to that age. Immediate euthanasia shall be applied with no exception should a loophole have appeared, or should, through an audit, an accounting error of potential candidates has occurred.”

Words fail me.

When my mother was dying from cancer, which didn’t really take all that long, they gave us a couple weeks. Once she went into a coma, they said a week, give or take, but also told us that there’s just no knowing how ling a person can hang on. She lasted longer than they expected and said they didn’t have any idea what was keeping her alive.

Doctors are NOT God. They simply cannot know how long someone has to last, especially that far in the future.

This is employing the same criteria as was applied to Abdel Baset Al-Megrahi. The same Lockerbie bomber who was supposed to be worm food months ago.

Well, I'm satisfied...

actually, I suspect the reason that this guy is still alive is that he didn’t meet the British NICE criteria for expensive chemotherapy.

After he arrived in Libya, he got full treatment.

But although one or two articles suggest I am right, I haven’t found anyone trying to find his medical records.

Euthanasia Bill Defines Dying as 2 Years to Live

So, under this protocol, let's just euthanize the Obama administration the moment it has less than two years to go. That would be 1/20/11.

Stuck in corner, neglected, unfed, no water. Sounds like a fabulous setup in Western Australia. Sounds like TERRI SCHINDLER SCHIAVO who was given six months to live for FIVE YEARS so hospice could get their hands on her to kill her for Michael Schiavo via Judge George Greer. Now people are killed bypassing the judges. They are still being neglected and killed like Terri.

Florida's a great place for healthy people. If someone's ill, do not come here. It's too risky. Rick Scott for Governor, no, no, no. Abortions and not admitting to ERs. He aborted and refused to admit patients. He wants to be governor. Rick Scott's hospital killed my friend last year cuz of an insurance mixup.
