My friend TJ Aulds who writes for the Galveston Daily News recently wrote a blog asking if Tea Party Members are all racist. He goes on to say that surveys show that the demographics show that Tea Party members are “predominately older, white and men. But about a quarter of those surveyed are Hispanic, Asian-American or African American.”
While his demographic breakdown on race are fairly accurate, non-white members only make up about 25% of membership. However, according to a survey by Gallup, who will never be confused with being a conservative polling entity the members are far from being angry, old, white men.
45% are women
The largest age bracket is 30-49 years of age
43% identify themselves as independents
He also quotes local Bay Area Democrat activist and blogger John Cobarruvias, “I keep my distance because they are angry, white Republicans and many of them are racists. That's all they are. I have very little respect for them.”

Non-whites are called "minorities" because they make up a smaller portion of the population of the U.S. than whites. Therefore, for the "tea party" to reflect the make up of America, it makes sense that the majority of it's participants would be white.

First of all, although I don't fit that demographic, this whole concept is very irritating to me. If the country is on the wrong course, what's wrong with old white men being angry and voicing their opinions? Those still with us who fought WWII and who are white are now ‘old, white men’. If they don't like Obama and the course of the country are they just being ‘angry, old, white men’?
It's an appalling racist term, and should not be tolerated.

We don’t read much about the demographics of those at pro illegal immigration rallies.
When they say "They're all white!" it's called demographics. If you say "they're all Hispanic/Black/Arab," it's called racial profiling.
Which is why the irony of Obama suing Arizona is so overwhelming I feel dizzy whenever I think of it. I mean, this law might lead to racial profiling? Really? Why??
Oh, because 95% OF THE ILLEGALS IN ARIZONA ARE HISPANIC??? IS THAT WHY?? (sigh)
Yeah that is me during the holidays and other family reunions. (except my Brother and oldest daughter are hard corp conservatives!!)
