Hmm.
That can’t be good...
http://pajamasmedia.com/zombie/2010/07/08/leftist-groups-plan-a-riot-as-oakland-boards-up-downtown/
From the above link my son found on the web:
” We are anarchists who live in the Bay. We are OUTRAGED by the murder of Oscar Grant, and we are pissed at continuing police violence and disregard of communities health and safety.
Some folks have been calling us outside agitators. We wonder: outside of what? We are all faced by police violence
THE PIGS STARTED THIS
Straight up, we dont like that the police murder people.
Last year when people expressed themselves in the streets, we heard condemnation of property destruction but no rebuke of police aggression against peoples bodies. Lets not forget that the only reason Mehserle is on trial is because the people of Oakland rose up.
If Mehserle is found guilty of murder it will be historic. If he is found not guilty, or given a slap on the wrist, our response will be historic. What happens in the streets will be determined by the people in the streets, and we know that we wont be there alone. We say to the thugs at OPD, bring your chumps in body armor. The more Bay Area cops you bring to downtown Oakland to threaten and intimidate those expressing themselves, the more targets you leave exposed. Its open game on all your $hit from now until the job is done.”
Good to know. The leftists are trying to ‘create something’ it sounds like as you tell it. Geesh! Don’t they have some wildlife to protect on the Gulf that 0bama isn’t doing anything to help?
Their main goal is to create civil unrest, as you know. Anarchists suck wind. They’d be better off as drag queens for the attention they so crave. Maybe they’re just embarrassed to do so by their smaller private parts. Doesn’t look so great in glitter spandex...LOL!
It is. That’s the pity of it. If someone with a spine took control of the city, it has the potential to be one of America’s great cities. The architecture is great, the layout is good, they have the waterfront right there, they hav the hills.... They truly have all the physical requirements for a great city.
But they’ve suffered from an unbroken succession of liberal loons - Dellums is simply the latest in an unbroken line going back to the late 70’s that have kept up this pretense of caring about the city and residents while catering to the idiotic notions of upper middle class Bay Area white liberals. The political leadership of Oakland wants more than anything to pander to the press in the bay area.
The leader who can turn around that city will have to be a no-nonsense black conservative, and his first speech should be directed west across the bay and start and end with the words “STFU.”
Yea that looks like the story.
That little shack, down by the water, wouldn’t be nuthin’ without the bar.... /s
The link doesn’t work. Probably updating. Thanks though. :)
Time for bed here in Minnesota, almost midnight.
Hope everyone, including the cops in Oakland, stay safe. I don’t envy them.
The action is moving to 14th and Franklin.
SOMEONE mentioned earlier that when the crowds started gathering, they were made up of what looked like UNION MEMBERS.
Of course, it’s just a coincidence that there is a SEIU headquarter building at 14th and Franklin.
This ‘riot’ is turning out to be a bunch of SEIU employees (union thugs) being led by a bunch of white anarchists.
The only ‘blacks’ seem to be peaceful protesters, old women, etc., and they have dispersed.
The thugs are now looting a pawn shop. Police don’t know if they are taking guns from the pawn shop (yet).
>This riot is turning out to be a bunch of SEIU employees (union thugs) being led by a bunch of white anarchists.<
Will union thugs be arrested? I doubt it.
I believe APL moved out last year.
Remember back when CNN and FOX would be all over this? The media in this country is pathetic.
Here is a sampling of the treasures. I don't have all the links, but some pictures can be found at http://www.tileheritage.org/THF-ENews12-08.html:
The Federal Realty Building (The Cathedral Building)
The Tribune Tower
Oakland City Hall
Alameda County Courthouse
Cathedral of Christ the Light
Fox Theatre
I. Magnin (old department store -- Art Deco)
Federal Building Complex
Old Oakland
Preservation Park
Pardee Mansion
The Breuner Building (old furniture store -- Art Deco)
I honestly can’t see any white or asian conservative ever getting more than 35 percent of the vote there now. The city’s political base is now so racially polarized, that I think it will have to be someone who is black, probably a former military officer, and be a truly hardened person who truly leads without seeking all manner of fawning approval from the effete white toffs in SF.
Absent that, I fully expect the line of left wing idiots to continue until Oakland is the west coast version of Detroit. Detroit is another model city of racially polarized politics, complete with pandering white liberals compounding the situation, that shows what happens when the business base has utterly collapsed or fled.
That’s what I see in store for Oakland.
Then Clorox shouldn’t be far behind I would imagine.
The first Clorox bleach plant has on High St. and the company originally founded in 1916, so there was some historical precedent for basing the “modern” company in downtown Oakland. The company built that building (general headquarters) in 1972 during a period when it looked as if the SF East Bay was really going to take off, economically. They were right, it did. There was a certain amount of tension in the city even then (Black Panthers), but that was abating somewhat.
I no longer have a stake in the company, but I the makeup of the executive personnel there are mostly from the midwest (most of the company’s products are made there). They spend as little time as possible in that town, I promise you.
On Broadway at 19th Street, across from Sears (the old Emporium Capwell department store) there is a "gold teef" shop (which I believe was once a respectable jewelry store). The store sign is spray-painted directly onto the building's stucco.
