Everything you have said is true.
If Santa Anna hadn't slaughtered everybody at Goliad and the Alamo, who knows what would have happened.
Maybe I've been reading too many Elmer Kelton books lately.
Do you know what treaty that was? The name of it? Just curious. Thanks.
Sorry but that is not true any more- pro family? They leave families everywhere they go for the rest of us to support. They vote Democrat- even if the candidate is pro-choice. As to them building a wall against the Muslims with their strong religious beliefs- nope, not that any more either and many are becoming Muslims- they might be strongly Muslim.
“The anglos who lived in Mexico (Texas) were citizens of Mexico, and many of them did not want the war.”

Hummm, I’m a descendant of the “Old 300” and that’s not really accurate. They were known as Texicans, forced to be Catholics but still held to Protestant beliefs when not watched by the Alcalde. When the time came to fight, they fought for Texas, not Mexico.
Not exactly free.
The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, which brought an official end to the Mexican-American War (184648), was signed on February 2, 1848 . The U.S. paid Mexico $15 million and absorbed another $3 million in debts, and acquired New Mexico, Arizona and California. The treaty ended Mexican claims to own Texas, which had been the cause of the war.
The property rights enjoyed by the Hispanic population under Mexican rule were respected by the United States, and the inhabitants would had one year to return to Mexico or stay and become full-fledged American citizens.

Wow, I am utterly speechless!!
I think you may be referring to the Treaty of Gualalupe-Hildago signed in 1848.
