The Army JAG released a letter certifying modern hollow-points for combat. Since the hollowpoint is a function of manufacturing and isn’t specifically intended to achieve more drastic “terminal effects”, it’s good to go.
The only reason modern hollow-points are used in precision rifles is because the more accurate production process draws the jacket from the rear, not the front. This creates a more precise bullet but leaves the hollow-point.

Those look neat. I use CorBon Pow’r Ball for carry ammo which seems about the same in concept. I do not think that Geneva Convention rules apply to GSG9, SWAT teams or other non-military organizations doing hostage rescue type stuff. GSG9 (Grenzschutzgruppe9)is part of the German Border Patrol (Grenzschutz) which is part of the German federal police, not the Army (Heer). The pictured ammo looks like it would be ideal for quickly dropping terrorists and minnimizing over penetration in airplanes and other crowded places that an anti-terrorist force may have to operate in.
Federal makes a nice 165 grain soft point boat tail that performs like the 168hpbt, but transfers much more energy due to the expansion of the soft point. I bought a case and fired a few, very accurate, close groups.
I’m kind of partial to Barnes X Bullets.......
