Lars Larson grills Wayne LaPierre on the NRA's controversial decision to make a deal with House Democrats and the Obama Administration in exchange for not opposing a new campaign-finance bill.
The DISCLOSE ACT is back on the calendar for tomorrow June 23, 2010
Sources are reporting that the vote is expected to take place tonight or tomorrow.
Goodbye to Wayne and the NRA —
Ugh. Sarah Palin should have a talk with LaPierre.
The NRA made a deal with the Democrat Party for their support, which perpetually considers the NRA a pariah? In my naïve way, I believe that defense of Second Amendment rights always requires coalitions, and the NRA has just enfeebled those they must look to for support. Also, when has the Democrat Party ever abided by a deal? Obviously, they will apply their unique moral logic to reverse this exemption when the opportunity first arises. In general, I hold the position that if you do not defend everyones free speech rights you will lose yours.
Yep - when my membership expires, I will NOT renew.
Yep - when my membership expires, I will NOT renew.
That's what I'm wondering. His actions don't make sense unless there are other circumstances the members don't know about.
Both Sarah and Glenn Beck spoke at the NRA in May, and as far as I know have been silent on DISCLOSE. Mark Levin ripped the NRA.
Although I am incredibly disappointed in the NRA for this, I don’t think it will help the Second Amendment cause for people to stop supporting the NRA financially. I direct my angre at Wayne and believe he should step down for the good of the organization. The NRA needs to move foward and remain intact...the leadership needs to be taken to task however.
I can’t see getting in bed with the dimoKKKRATS for their support of the 2nd Amendment. That just is not going to happen. Bad judgement by the NRA.
Subject: Termination of membership
Reference: My email of 15 June 2010
This letter is to inform you that I want my membership in the NRA TERMINATED forthwith. Member number 1580xxxxx.
Your support for politicians like Harry Reed and John McCain, plus your sellout of FREEDOM and the 1st Amendment in the case of the DISCLOSE Act are the final straws on the camels back.
Oh, and lose my address. DO NOT ever send me another solicitation letter or any other type of communication.
With deep DISGUST,
Neil E. Wright
The referenced email:
Message: For years I refused to join the NRA because of your sellout attitude on anti-gun legislation, including the '34 NFA, the '68 GCA, the Brady Bill, etc, etc, etc.
I did finally join after the '08 elections because I thought and hoped that maybe with the election of the rooster-sucking communist, you'd finally get the message that FREEDOM comes first.
Obviously, you didn't.
The support of the NRA for politicians like Harry Reed and John McCain plus your last sellout of FREEDOM and the 1st Amendment, broke the camel's back.
Cancel my membership and lose my address.
With deep disgust,
Neil E. Wright
★ FREEDOM! ★
Maybe she did. The NRA endorsed McCain over Hayworth. I wish Lars would have asked Wayne why the NRA did that, especially after the number of times during the interview he decried McCain-Feingold.
That Harry Reid love-fest special feature article titled “ A Real Home on the Range” in the NRA’s June “American Rifleman” magazine was the final straw for me.
Somewhere in Heaven Charlton Heston is urinating down on Wayne LaPierre.
Heard part of his “explanation” on Laura Ingraham.
Was not even close-sounded like a dummycrat fillibustering with talking points. An incoherent babbling rant.
Not impressive.
Agree, the leadership may even need to be changed/investigated. IMO they could lower the dues by half. Have you seen how much they take in on an annual basis? Over 500 million dollars annually I believe.
I don't want to see the NRA dissolve. There's too much history here. We need to restore the NRA as Glenn Beck would say.
Personally, I'll probably let my membership expire and join GOA for now since I will not be associated with any organization that will not stand up for the rights of All Americans. So many Americans have paid the ultimate price for the freedom we enjoy. The actions of the NRA leadership and this democratic controlled congress is a disgrace to that sacrifice.
My hats'off to him Yankee. ;)
Jews for the Preservation of Fiream Ownership - Excellent
Second Amendment Foundation - Great
Gun Owners of America - Great
