Census 2010-- Numbers, Illusions, and Politics

I am sure (or at least, I hope) you heard by now that Obama is fudging his unemployment numbers so that it appears as though he has control of the unemployment rate. In other words, he is attempting to manufacture artificial success. He is doing this by adding hundreds of thousands of government gigs (I call them gigs, because gigs are temporary jobs that last until a single service is complete). On his campaign organizing website, Obama boasts that the “…Numbers Show Fifth Straight Month of Growth.” This is being passed off as success in Obama’s favor. But what is really happening? I’ll explain it to you. The private sector, the sector of the economy that is literally the life blood of the country and the government’s revenue, simply tacked on more debt and economic stress to fund the public sector (service that is supported by Federal dollars) in order to craft the illusion that an economic recovery is taking place. The media boasted in early June that 431,000 new jobs were created, but 411,000 were due to counting for the census, while only 41,000 positions were created in the private sector. In other words, if these economic numbers were blood cells, then Lady Liberty would be diagnosed with an acute case of anemia.

Want to know the real reason why these Census workers are "following up" on their questions? Could it be just a simple justification of propped up unemployment numbers? We explain.

I know people who were hired for the census and before working a minute fired from the census and two weeks later hired again. This happened twice coinciding with the monthly unemployment reports.

First off, were the ones fired ever deducted from the hired numbers? Most likely not. So the number of hired keeps going up doing exactly what Obama wants.

What is more incidious, are those same people, even hired, have never logged a minute of time worked since. So here we are with the huge number of dollars it is reported to have taken or expected to take to do the job and people hired to do it are not being paid because they are not working.

So in reality, where is the money going if the people who were hired to get it are not getting it or even time logged to receive compensation? The money is still being spent.

"...I want to see the schools work... I want to see hospitals work," he said. "I don't think the Republicans share that point of view. "Why would you put people in charge of government who just don't want to do it?..." Alan Grayson, (D) FL

Ah. We can have our government run schools and hospitals administered by bureaucrats, and this is the way it works. The experience will go something like this.

We would like million dollar commercials to air during the Super Bowl to tell us how great our government run schools and hospitals are, except that the commercials would be stupid, illogical and non-educational.

We would like to get mailings in advance of our registration card, paid for by us, to tell us our registration card for schools/hospitals are on the way.

We would get the form, fill it out, mail it back, only to get a phone call with no return number telling us that they never got our form.

We would get another phone call, during the weekday, when we were at work earning money to pay taxes to pay for this bureaucracy, telling us our form was not received, and that we would be contacted. There would be no return number and no name to call.

We would get a government hospital/school Quality Assurance official showing up at our door, explaining to us that that we needed to answer some questions, which we would answer

We would get a card mailed from the government hospital/school telling us that our census form was not filled out correctly (it was) and they needed to have a quality control person to meet us at our house to go over the form. There would be no callback number, but there was a name.

We would get government hospital/school Quality Assurance official arrive at our door, go over the filling out of the form again (which we already did twice) and have the QA supervisor tell us the first QA person gave us wrong information, and walk away with completed papers.

Substitute "Census Quality Assurance official" for "government hospital/school Quality Assurance official" and you have my experience with the US Census. This last step happened today while my wife worked from home. This is a true account. This happened to US. I swear this is not exaggerated or embellished.

So, when I hear a Piece of Crap Liberal Anti-American Puke like Alan Grayson telling us there is something wrong with us because we don't want damned idiot morons like him putting his hands on the levers of power, telling us there is something wrong because we don't want the same maliciously incompetent money wasting morons he chums around with running our schools and hospitals the same way they run the Census, I get angry. VERY angry.

The census taker in my neighborhood is earning her pay. She was at the door again yesterday and she also called (I didn’t answer either). This has to be her sixth visit and her third phone call. She tries to get me weekdays, evenings and even weekends. And yes, my neighbors said she did ask them about the occupant(s) of my house. The neighbors luckily didn’t give her any information, probably because for the most part we don’t know each other.

I’m telling you guys this census is a racket. If you participate in it, you are contributing to a criminal enterprise. You are foolish.

The experience will go something like this.

... actually, based on census training, you should have only gotten 3 calls to your home number while at work, then no more than 3 personal visits at varing times to personally have a QC enum fill out a confirming interview form. Seems in most offices, they can’t track what forms did come in so over half of the reinterviews are done with people who say they did fill it out and send it in, so one is welcomed like the Redundancy Department of Redundancy. I just tell them to blame it on The Won since he took over control of the census in the White House this year... but your experience is reflective of the efficiency of the temporary federal bureacracy, all done at $16-18.50/hour with the training portion often lasting longer than the temp hours needed to complete the project...

Are census workers calling because you didn't fill out the form, or because you didn't fill it out completely?

I answered the first and second questions only. Haven't seen a census worker yet, but then I'm not home most of the day.

this census is a racket

... wellllll, it may be, but at least it is a Constitutionally mandated job of government and if you aren’t counted, you are helping to boost Congressional representation of non conservatives in other states where they will count every homeless and illegal they can find... but your choice as to how you respond. At the least, it would be good to get the emum the number living in the house whether you answer the race/ethnic or birthdate info or not...

You know that no matter what the actual numbers are, this administration will still fudge them to suit its purposes. In fact, I’m suspicious of whatever else this particular administration is going to do with the data.

I have no objection to the census as such, but these days, I don’t trust the government to use it for its stated intent.

And as for representation — I would be only too happy to see my representative go. As far as I’m concerned, we have way too many Congressmen with too much time on their hands, who spend their time golfing and devising new ways to steal from the taxpayers. As for the other intended purpose — money for the states and municipalities — that money is just more revenue for our local governments to squander. Education? Huh...where I live, they spend huge sums of money and the kids graduate without basic reading, writing or mathematics skills.

I didn’t fill out anything for the reasons stated above.

Thanks. But...I didn’t sleep well last night — so I don’t get it. Maybe if I view it later when I wake up...
