The mileage would depend on how much east-west zig you put in your zag. The north-south numbered streets run twenty per mile so Fifth Ave from 14th street to 59th street (Central Park) is almost exactly 2.25 miles. Add about three-five for the Battery to 14th with a bit of meandering.

The average walker can do this all between ten and four. The beauty is that you can stop anywhere you want and head for the shed.
