I honestly think china would be a lot smarter about anything of the sort than hirohito was.
For one thing, I expect they can take down parts or much of our electrical grid at will. The years-long reports of huge state-sponsored hacking in china, coupled with grid penetration reports over the years, make a lot of sense in that context. A few days in major cities with no power, and foreign wars are the last thing fedgov is going to care about.
from a realpolitikal perspective, it is a pretty sad way to end the american era.
Over the past decade or so, I have noticed that seemingly every small town in "America's Heartland" has gained one or more Chinese restaurants. It was not THAT long ago that when someone "in flyover country" wished to eat at a Chinese restaurant, it was necessary to drive for an hour or longer -- each way -- in order to find the closest one.

Now, though, they are springing up like mushrooms after a rain, and, seemingly operated by Chinese nationals with little if any "ties to the community."
In the very small town in Michigan near where I live, there was one that was busted by INS/ICE a few years ago. The owner -- a Chinese national -- had used the business as a conduit for bringing in a LOT of illegal aliens from China. Ironically, the feds must have had to climb over the illegal MEXICAN aliens in order to get to the Chinese business (as of last census, my very rural township out here in "God's Country" is approximately 25% "hispanic" (no, not from Hispaniola -- we're talking of illegal Mexicans, who are able to reside here openly with no fear of apprehension. I have heard on the grapevine that the big packing house in the area employs numerous illegals, with no fear of being raided -- the word on the street is that the local check-cashing counter laughs at how all the different employees from that outfit have the SAME greencard number.)
But, I digress.
Given China's open hostility toward us -- their military openly referring to us as "the enemy" and the book they wrote -- military manual for our conquest, titled "Unrestricted Warfare" that outlines asymmetric tactics in detail, I am expecting that WHEN they decide it's time to take us down, there will be a large number of "restaurant workers" who show up "at the restaurant" in the wee hours of the night, and then quietly file out, spreading out into the countryside to do their missions (knocking down power distribution lines, blowing up- telephone exchanges, police stations, etc., etc., etc.)
I fear for our childrens future.
