A popinjay is person who is arrogant or vain. A perfect description of a man who is so self-focused that no matter what Americans think about his actions, no matter how much pain the country is experiencing, he continues with his amusements, ignoring their plight and how he is spending tax dollars.

The other night FOX ran a montage of snippets from commencement speeches. Of course Obama was in there along with other supposed luminaries. I watched carefully to see if any of the others engaged in Obama’s defining nonverbal gesture—the repeated upward movement of his chin as he speaks, conveying an air of superiority over those listening.
Not one of the others did this. In fact I’m hardpressed to think of anyone who is so smug as to do this as part of his normal delivery.
