The Republican Whip in the House Eric Cantor posted the proposals for spending cuts for the week on his YouCut web page. The public is encouraged to vote and the winning idea will be voted on the floor - for real.
- Sell Excess Federal Property Potential savings of up to $15 billion
- Terminate Duplicative Federal Bicycle and Walking Program Saves $183 million a year or $1.8 billion over ten years
- Terminate New Federal Truck Parking Facilities Program Saves $6.25 million a year
- Terminate Security Funding for Private Bus Companies Saves $12 million a year ($120 million over ten years)
- Terminate the Ready to Learn Television Program Saves $27 million a year ($270 million over ten years)
Vote you choice for spending cuts here
The winning item last week was Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac reform, which would have generated $30 billion in savings for the taxpayers. As promised, House Republicans again made history by bringing the item you selected to the floor for an up-or-down vote.
The spending reforms in Fannie and Freddie were defeated 230 to 180. Make them vote! YouCut!
Cantor really needs a better website name for this website, something that can be marketed that links back top this page
