"Why does everyone assume Rush is some kind of Homophobe? He isn’t, never has been, and I’d say anyone who claims he is has never listened to his show."

I've had several very good, very GAY friends. None of them ever tried to turn me toward their lifestyle. I didn't try to convert them, either. Friendship can transcend such things. I think Rush is old enough and wise enough to choose his own friends. I have online friends I who are "strange" but it doesn't dent the friendship. Why is it necessary to be so shocked that someone of Rush's talent, influence, and knowledge should have friends outside OUR parameters? Let's wait and see what Rush has to say about all this.

Personally, I love Elton John's stuff, and have several of his albums. His private life is no concern of mine.

The guy who spotted Rush’s raw talent and was as responsible for his success as anyone (outside of Rush himself) was a very talented broadcaster and consultant who was gay.

Rush was very fond of him, very much influenced by him (his fascination with computers began with this man), and was moved by his fear of getting aids.

Unfortunately, aids is what took his life.
