What did the President know and when did he know it?

According to Richard Wolffe Barack Obama was apprised not only of the leak, but of the magnitude of the leak, how hard it would be to repair and how long it could go on:

Critics have bashed President Obama for being slow to seize the political initiative in combating the BP oil spill in the Gulf Coast, now widely believed to be the worst environmental disaster in U.S. history. The White House has battled back, releasing a timeline of events showing that Obama was briefed—and deploying the Coast Guard—within 24 hours of the Deepwater Horizon blowout.

What has not been previously disclosed: The president was not only briefed on the real-time events of the spill, but also on just how bad it would be—and how hard it would be to plug the hole.

Last week I listened to Rove talking about this. Bush was excoriated for supposedly not responding promptly to Katrina. Yet legally the person who was supposed to be in charge was the Governor - who didn't even bother to show up to the meeting as the hurricane was bearing in on LA. They were asked what they needed and rejected the help.

In contrast, the oil leak that is still spewing pollution into the gulf, by law, is Obama's responsibility; he is the person who is supposed to be in charge. No surprise that he is doing nothing. Also no surprise that the press has largely given him a pass. Articles focus on hollow statements like "he is looking for someones ass to kick". Kick our ass, Obama - it's you!

My own musings are: 1)While it's quite likely that they were simply incompetent, the LA Dims may have mismanaged Katrina in order to blame Bush. 2) While it's quite likely Obama is simply incompetent, he may be deliberately mismanaging the spill to continue his efforts to hurt our economy, hurt Jindal and to nationalize oil companies.

At long last all of those liberal morons sporting bumper stickers that said, "If you are not outraged you are not paying attention!" have it right.

I must disagree.

Our POTUS overcame racism while be raised by a single mother on welfare living in the projects.

If we as people can not see how our refusal to overcome our bigotry is why our POTUS acted this way we should be ashamed.

Heroes come from all ethnic groups.

Excluding a new hero, Kenyan born magically made citizen who changed the meaning of hope for an entire nation, because he is half white is wrong.

This intolerance of half white people must end. White is just color. Let it go people let it go. A half white man can succeed if we stop seeing him as half a man.

Being white is not a fault. Forgive and forget.
