Since we became aware the Joe Sestak was offered a position by the administration in exchange for dropping out of the race against Arlen Specter, there have been calls for impeachment. Small at first, but growing in strength in the past week, these calls can threaten to derail the progress that we have been making. In fact, I would submit that impeaching Obama is a terrible idea. (Mind you, this is assuming that we win enough seats in November to even try.)
Impeachment puts Obama on the defense, and that might play to his strengths. I like to keep in mind that Obama is really a community organizer. Hes not a leader, or a uniter, hes an Alinskyite-to the bone. Part of their game is to portray themselves as the victim(s), and their opposition as the oppressor. While Obama doesnt know how to speak without a prompter, go to a foreign country without bowing to someone, or how to handle a national crisis, he does know how to distort, lie, deflect, smear, and pay power politics with people. Those are his strengths, and impeaching him pushes him right back onto them.
Put him on the defensive, and we might just get to see what he is really good at. Race cards will be played. Narratives will be written and rewritten. The MSM will fabricate or selectively cover whatever it takes to defend Obama. Rent-a-mob will be purchased and deployed. The people prompting the impeachment will find themselves on the defensive in short order. Also, dont forget that in politics, its always easier to play to role of the principled defense. Just ask the GOP. Theyve been able to stay on message as a united front (with the exception of some RINOs). For that, theyre polling higher, and are looking to make some significant gains come November.
Putting him under attack will also likely energize his base. Theyre not so active right now. They had to pay Purple People Beaters to show up for Martha Coakley in January. They probably had to pay the People Beaters to show up and scare the stuffing out of a teenager last week. However, threaten his presidency, and the zombies will awaken. That might put us on the defensive literally (not that particularly bothers me, I see it as an eventuality anyway) .
Another reason to avoid impeachment is that it takes us off message and task. No matter what, our agenda should be put forward. Lower taxes, less spending, smaller government, school choice, repealing ObamaCare, and repairing the damage that Obama has caused should be front and center. Impeaching Obama will take time and political capital, both of which are in short supply, and neither can be squandered. The stakes are simply too high. We either stop correcting damage, and getting the country back on track, or we spend time trying to remove a sitting President; a task that has never been accomplished.
The third reason centers on the fact that Obama is failing already. Hes taking heat for the slow reaction time on the oil spill. He is increasing alienating his lapdogs in the media, and theyre starting to notice. All the Easter Eggs that were in ObamaCare are becoming public. He is now a laughing stock overseas, and belligerent nations are taking his presidency as an excuse to become more aggressive. They can say that the economy and jobs are getting better, but Main Street says otherwise, and a few hundred thousand-census workers are about to lose their jobs. Democratic candidates are running against him, and treat him like the plague. In fact, almost every candidate that he has campaigned for has lost. Its not an impressive record. Its going to get worse, and more and more people are noticing. If you impeach him, you actually distract from his own record of failure, making him the victim instead of Jimmy Carter 2.0.
Ive often said that Obama, in and of himself, is irrelevant. Hes only the latest progressive thats trying to destroy the Republic. Clinton, Kerry, or any other Democrat could have won, and wed be still facing the same challenges that we are tackling now. Its the agenda that we need to target, not the man. If we stick with ideas, people will see what a disaster the Obama Presidency is, and will continue to be. Impeach him, and it becomes personal, and he can use his skills to make himself a sympathetic character that is being set upon by those evil Conservatives that dont want a black man to be president.
Dont play into his hands. Instead, lets send him home in January of 2013 as a failure-because he is. Lets also make sure take he takes failed, statist ideas with him as well.
Impeachment is a political process.
No. It will give the left a reason to get some momentum. They have none right now, and they are going to loose in November. We should let that happen.
Alternative solution: vote.
Impeachment is a horrible idea imho. It will just garner obama sympathy. We need to just get out of the way and let this admn and the rats implode all by themselves.
If the pressure continues, this is where I think we're headed, either Emanuel goes to jail for his commission of felony or he cops a deal and outs the one who ordered him to take care of Sestak, ie., his boss.

And those who want to see this malignancy gone should heed well the intentions of those saying don’t impeach. It’s not that we wouldn’t want to if we thought it would work.
But its the kind of thing that if you try and fail, you look like a horses A$$, which would be fine except, left to their own devices, leftists make themselves look horrible to an amazing degree.
The best advertisement in American history for why entitlements are bad is Obamacare, and in its full fruition, it will do more for the conservative cause than anything Republicans could do. That said, I wouldn’t have wished it on this country. But, it does go to show that Conservatives always have a secret weapon that never fails: the actions of the Democrat party. When left to do what they want to do, its obvious that they have horrible solutions and that their philosophy is fundamentally flawed. In contrast, in general, when Republicans are in power, they are generally rebelled against by “independents.” We might not want to face that truth, but if you look at the empirical evidence in history, its the truth.
You predicate your musings on the belief that honest elections will follow after 2010, and that the current criminal thuggery will bow out if voted out. Being naive must feel so nice at this late hour. Your dreaming is like wondering what day is the next baseball game you can play in as the medics stop the blood flow from the arteries of your legs lopped off below the knees.
This author needs to quit thinking so much. If BO has done something worthy of impeachment, then it should be done. End of story. To leave him in office under those circumstances would make the Congress complicit in his crimes.
Give me a break....I see more and more of you RINO Ilk each day as you libtards wake up to what you have done!
Get your head out of your A$$ and go back to the Chriss Mathews talk show.
“You predicate your musings on the belief that honest elections will follow after 2010, and that the current criminal thuggery will bow out if voted out. You have a penchant for gripping images. Unfortunately gory imagery won’t serve to make your point if you lack a logical basis for your argument. Emotional imagery appeals more to the knee-jerk liberal mind than the reasoned one.
I’ll ignore your assertion about being naive for now, as you have no idea how naive I might be or not be, so that is hollow on its face.
Turning to the substance, if you are right and I’m wrong, then impeachment *is* a good strategy for fighting the Left and collectivists in this country.
Let’s assume you’re right.
Go for it. Let’s see how that works. If I’m right, it’s not a good idea, and we’ve got more to gain by not doing it. If you’re right, it will work out. I invite you to observe what’s done over the coming weeks and months and judge whether what you’re advocating is even doable.
I’m glad you brought up naive approaches to problems. Impeachment won’t be done. It shouldn’t be done. It’s a waste of time and resources. It’s more useful to simply refer to it during the campaign as an “unanswered question.” It’s actually *more* valuable as an unanswered question than as a resolved one, in the campaign, because its not likely to resolve in our favor. Calling for impeachment at this point contains a great deal more naivete than advocating the electoral process. Think of the naive mind that would think that impeachment could work.
If you think that elections are inherently unfair and always rigged, I guess you’ve got a lot more things to worry about than whether or not to impeach. You should starting thinking about how we are going to reform the electoral system long term, to include the time after Obama is gone, by impeachment or otherwise.
Hey. Why don't you take a crack at it first. Seems to me your very question to me makes it clear you think there is no conservative agenda.
As for my wish list:
1. Above all else, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.2. I would love for the income tax and direct election of senators to be repealed but know those are not realistic goals. Instead, I want to see a complete overhaul of the tax code, perhaps going to a fair tax. No VAT if there is still an income tax.
3. Strong defense.
4. Not just a fence on our southern border, but a complete moritorium on all immigration until we get the situation regarding illegal immigrants of all backgrounds under control. Freeze H1B visas until our own people are fully employed again. In fact, freeze all visas except tourist visas until illegal immigration is brought under control.
5. Strongly penalize companies who hire illegals.
6. Find ways through incentives to stop shipping jobs overseas.
7. Make English the official language of the United States.
8. No special prosecutor in the Sestak case, because all sp's do is hide things for years. Instead, have the FBI do its job and investigate as they would any federal criminal matters. If they find cause to turn the case over to a U.S. attorney, that's the way this should go. No impeachment unless criminal misconduct actually exists and can be proven in a court of law.
That's for starters.
Stuff your stupid blog where the sun doesn’t shine!!!
I supported the impeachment of Clinton because I thought we had a chance to win and remove him.
“Isn’t that what Clinton and his minions were whining during his impeachment process? That his trial was all political, not about his flagrant violation of the Rule of Law.”
Actual that’s true, they were whining about that. It was typical Democrat obfuscation, though, because if fact its both a political and a legal process, as we saw in Illinois recently, and in Clinton’s case it was both politically and legally the right thing to do.
In Obama’s case, it may be legally the right thing to do, but not politically. Which is why I am just reminding us that this is not a purely legal process, its also political, i.e. it requires calculation. And if you don’t think that our adversaries are some good politicians, think again.
At the time Clinton was very popular, he was actually doing some good things for the economy. That was the extent of what he was doing good. He at least had enough sense not to wreck the economy.
Obama is down in popularity and trending lower, so that prognosis is quite different. A cardinal rule of politics is don’t interrupt someone when they are in the middle of making an A$$ of themselves. I think that applies here.
The idiots in America who watch TV and pay for cable and sat TV enable and empower Obama.
All 5 networks control 95% of the channels. Fox is part owned by the Saudis who export Islam to western countris to take them over.
The public is stupid and will let TV brainwashed them and steal their freedom and liberty.
He must be impached. The corruption and criminality is off the charts.
Skip this “Biden is an idiot” arguement or that he is worse. Somebody in Biden’s American family did something at least once that was good for America. Someone in the family must have worn the uniform and did not hate America.
I loathe hussein not because of his skin color but because he is a marxist, he is not eligible and he is an agent for Islam - probably the Saudis.
The idiots who watch TV empower him.

We have to be “as shrewd as snakes.”
Just so you know, I do *not* support compromise when it comes to pulling election levers.
I think that a lot of independents are, in all honesty, not very bright. I had a conversation with an Air Force veteran in an establishment, in which he informed me, about a year into Obama’s presidency, that Obama was not a good president, and he regretted voting for him.
I really gave the guy hell, along the lines of, ‘what the hell did you expect, you are ex-military and should have known better.’
It’s always amazing to me how people can be taken in by politicians, just because they are “not Bush.” How asinine can one get?
But the “good” thing about socialism is that as a philosophy, it’s fundamentally flawed. The current generation of voters hasn’t fully realized this yet. But they will. And the country will have to be damaged in the process because a number of otherwise “smart” people refuse to see the evil philosophy of socialism for what it is.
In the end, the body politic will get exactly what it deserves. Those of us on the Right should prepare for the worst, and be ready when that system fails as it inevitably must.
You have to be able to prove it. I don’t know, based on what we have now, that it’s possible. Any DA out there will tell you that you have to have a case that will lead to conviction. Impeaching Obama without sufficient evidence leading back to him is a waste of time and effort. That’s time and effort that should be spent on defunding or repealing ObamaCare, stopping the remaining Porkulus funds from being spent, giving the people a real tax cut, and stopping the FCC and EPA. You can’t do all of it at the same time.
